  1. WAPAAk! 2 : Lipad eba! Lipad March 31, 2012 -Aug 27, 2012 |Victor Oteyza Community Art Space PRESS RELEASE CONTACT: Ceres Canilao MOBILE: 0917-507-5131 EMAIL: ceres.marie@yahoo.com Women Artists take on the concept of freedom March is Women’s Month and local women artists are not about to let the month end without a strike—an art attack that is. The general public is invited to the opening of an all-women’s exhibit entitled WAPAAK! 2: Lipad Eba! Lipad! The theme of the exhibit focuses on the subject of ‘Freedom’. Local women artists explore, define, describe, idealize or even critic this idea through their works. The idea of freedom encompasses a wide range of concepts, so the artists involved either show very general interpretations or focus on particular types of freedom such as but not limited to: freedom of choice, political freedom, artistic freedom, and religious freedom. Regardless of the type of freedom they choose to portray, the commonality of their works rests in their WOMANity. This womanity acts like a filter that processes her experiences of the world. The fruits of these experiences are given life through the different artworks presented in the exhibit. The first WAPAAK! exhibit was held in August last year. WAPAAK! is an acronym for Women’s Artistic Production and Action Kickstarter. The exhibit hopes to continue providing women artists, especially budding artists, a venue for expressing their creative and artistic production. WAPAAK! 2: Lipad Eba! Lipad! opens on March 31, 2012 at 5PM at the Victor Oteyza Community Art Space (VOCAS) located at the 5th level of La Azotea Bldg., Session Road, Baguio City. There will be a short program featuring performances by some of the artists and other guests. The show will run until April 27, 2012. Entrance is free.
