Do you want to take the boats out on the lake but
haven’t had the chance to get a license? No
worries, Mate! Several Liberty staff and
volunteers have their licenses and can drive for
you to get you out on the water. Contact the
Liberty Office for more info at 226-9516.

Staff at the Walmsley Bowling Center for a FREE combo meal from Bumpers Grill

4 JULY – LAKE TOWADA KAYAK:
Located in the Towada Hachimantai National Park, Lake Towada is
believed to have been created by volcanic activities of Mt.Towada that
occurred about 40,000 years ago. Surrounded by tree covered hills that are
a part of the Hakkoda mountain chain, Lake Towada is the third largest
lake in Japan with a depth of over 1,000 ft. You will be led along the
shores of this National Park in sit on top kayaks by an experienced guide.

12 JULY – SEA CAVES & PACIFIC COAST:
Travel along the Pacific coast to some of the most breathtaking
views in our area. Don’t forget your camera! At Jodogahama
Beach we will go inside Hachinoheana, also known as the Blue
Cave, on a small fishing boat called a sappa. The water changes
its color depending on the season, ranging from emerald green
to cobalt blue. There is a blowhole inside the cave, and it is said
that if you see it blow, it will bring you good luck.

26 JULY – NANGO JAZZ FESTIVAL:
The little sleepy village of Nango, located just southwest of
Hachinohe, comes alive every July, putting on the largest open-air
jazz concert in Tohoku. This year the villagers are celebrating the
25th annual festival, bringing in some of the best world renowned
jazz groups from all over Japan and America.

SOBADOKORO OOYAMA:
This restaurant specializes in soba and tempura. Soba is a noodle made
with buckwheat flour. Tempra are dishes of seafood or vegetables that
have been battered and deep fried. They also have variety of other
Japanese meals.
