3. National adaptation plan (NAP)
Main output of the process
A strategic national plan for implementing adaptation
Focuses on issues on high-level approaches that will ensure effective and
adequate implementation of adaptation to meet goals of reducing
vulnerability and having climate-resilient development
They provide enough detail to guide achievement of these goals in key
sectors and for all vulnerable groups and systems
Should facilitate next steps to access climate finance under GCF as well as
bilateral sources and from national budgets, and subsequent steps
including monitoring and reporting, and future revisions and updates of the
plans
4. National adaptation plan (NAP)
It should be country-driven in terms of form and function – can lead to
sectoral/subnational action plans, investment strategies, etc.
Provides information on
Governance and coordination arrangements;
Assessments - climate risk and vulnerability, adaptation options;
Knowledge, information and communication;
Policy and strategy development;
Integration of adaptation in development;
Investment/financing plan;
Monitoring and review
Contains clear timeframe for action, and subsequent updates.
