     33.3 million in 2009, 23% more than in 1999

-access to sources of   DRINKING WATER increased
from 77% to 87% between 1990 and 2008.
-2600 million without sanitation.
•Essential medications remain scarce and expensive.
•The impact of non communicable
diseases, including cardiovascular disease,
diabetes, some cancers and chronic respiratory
diseases. (34 millions of death in 2009)

•Injuries, both intentional
and accidental direct cause of death of over
5 million people world wide.
