I have always found nature to be so amazing from the hundreds of trees and flowers to the animals
within the forest. Experiencing nature is one of the best things that could happen in your life. I
have always lived near the woods so I can experience nature every day. I have always felt calm when
I go into the woods so I go there when I feel stressed. I lay in my hammock for a while or go put my
feet into the icy cold water in the creek to get away from the world and just be at peace. To get
away from the judgmental glares and the expectations from people.
One thing I used to love to do when I was little was put on my bathing suit and play in the creek
with my cousins and two sisters. We would hunt crawdads and lizards. We tried to go up or down
the creek as far as we could without getting in trouble. We had a tire swing to swing over the
creek. We also made mud pies and mud castles. A bunch of us always made mud balls to throw at
each other. The amount of imagination you get when you mix going into the woods with a bunch
of people is crazy. We always make up games to play when we are in the creek, like villains and
heroes.
Another thing I love to do outdoors is ride my families Polaris razor. I drive it all around at home or
my family and I go somewhere to ride. We go to Windrock Park in Tennessee which has over 72,000
acres with 314 miles of trails to drive on. We get to drive for hours there and see all the amazing

Deep in the mountains in the southwest corner of North Carolina is a river unlike any other.
Halfway through my perilous rafting journey, there was a moment when time stood still. I witnessed
a natural phenomenon which displayed the beauty of nature at its finest. During that moment, I

nature. The Nantahala is a whitewater river nestled in a valley with steep mountains flanking it on

Scout on a three day camping trip in the Nantahala Gorge. The weather was cloudy with periodic

Guide who went by the name "Bones." "Bones" was a Caucasian man with dreads in his hair,

floated down the river like leaves down a stream; constantly fighting to stay upright and not be cast
overboard by the restless aggression of the rapids. We were part of the way through a two hour
journey down the Nantahala river. It had rained continuously throughout the trip, which meant we

Growing up, nothing has been more interesting to me than the animal world. Animals vary in size
and shape, they adapt to specific environments, and they all have unique relationships with one
another. These things fascinate me. I can't determine when this obsession grew in me but I can

would watch nature documentaries whenever I could find them on while flipping through the

in the air is enough to give a gentle shiver, but not enough for the need of a jacket. A breeze tickles
the trees, making their leaves shake and sway with laughter. Sunlight seeps in past the thick canopy
of branches with hopes of being able to reach the damp mountain earth. The mountains are the best
place to live to be relaxed, see the most beauty, and never get bored.
There is a relaxing feel of the mountains making it perfect for letting the stress disappear and peace
to find its way to one's soul. There are many people who love the mountains and live in them, but
there is so much space that they hardly ever see each other. Less people means that there is less
judgement by them, which means there is more freedom to be the person wanted to be without
worry about that pesky inner critic. For someone who is not very social and has anxiety whenever
I have to talk to another human, the mountains are the perfect place to get away from all of that
and be the most relaxed. I love the homey feel and peaceful atmosphere. There are no noisy

Thanks the weather, farmers and ranchers are really getting hammered this year, and the hits just
