Main Entrance is situated in the East
The Presiding Deity is Jayantha.This direction denotes Gain of Wealth and
Financial Soundness.
Its preferable to have Main entrance in the North and East to allowthe
useful sunlight constantly, through the day. Also, being downwind, there is
easy access to air circulation during the day. Allowing the house to breathe.
Since the door is opaque, it should be placed away from the north east
corner and more to the centre of north or east side of the home.
Stand at the center of the house when marking Main
Entrance of your Home. This is the most important Vastu to check in any
Home. The site or building is divided in a 9X9 grid called the Paramsyika
Mandala as per vastu. Each grid has a presiding deity.

Traditionally cooking was done on open stoves with risk of ﬁre in the house
from sparks, Hence the cooking ﬁre was preferred in the S-E corner or the N-
W corner, where the hot summer wind, blowing from the S-W to the N-E
direction blewaway from the house. Also, any odours from cooking would
move away from the house due to the upwinds.
In Modern Kitchens this can be avoided by adding an electric chimney. Keep
Kitchen clean and well lit to bring prosperity. Avoid kitchen under stairs and

Bedroom is a private space to relax undisturbed and rest. Hence should
avoid spaces like bhramasthan or the centre of the house as these are used
for accessing all rooms with frequent movement. We spend one third of our
lives sleeping. Sleeping undisturbed between 11:00 pm to 4:00 am helps our
brain to rejuvenate and lead healthy lives.

Puja is situated in the North of North East
Daily Prayers is auspicious in Eashanaya, the north east corner. This space is
the ﬁrst to get sunlight as the sun rises in the east. Also being in the North
side receives constant sunlight during the day. This makes the space a social
place of congregation ideal for meditation and prayers.
North east corner should be left open and airy as the prevalent trade winds
blowfrom the north east to southwest. Breathing fresh invigourating air
early morning is good for health. Keeping it open allows the air to move
through the house and move the stale air out.

One should pray facing east or north and make the most of the beneficial
light and air .
Do not place Pooja room above or belowor close to a toilet or under the
stairs as the space will be filled with noxious air or claustrophobic or dark
requiring artificial light. Not a good environment to start the day. Also, avoid
placing Puja in married couples bedroom as their privacy will get restricted.
Bedrooms are not social spaces.

early start to the day. Also, being close to the living room, the family can
keep an eye on kids as they are hyperactive by nature. Avoid distractions for
the kids like loud television playing nearby.
Good for children only as the space is social by nature being close to the
front of the home and does not have adequate privacy needed by adult
members of the family.
Keeping everything in positive direction in children’s room results in creative
thinking and good health because this room is the hub of fun and joy where
children spend most of their time.

Underground water tank is situated in the North
of North East
Nowadays underwater tank for storage of water has replaced the traditional
wells. The vastu rules are more applicable for wells.
North east corner receives morning sun and wells were generally kept open ,
this ensured the water purity due to the UV rays of the sun. The other
reason being land with a North east slope is considered as favourable as per
vastu. The water table would be high in north east due to the slope and this
would ensure high availability of water throughout the year.
Avoid North East axis, can be placed at a distance of at least two feet from
the North-East corner on either sides. Since other directions are reserved as
per vastu for various other purposes, placement of underwater tanks is ﬁne
in this direction.

Room in the East is ﬂooded with early morning light . Similarly, the sun does
down in the west, hence any room in the east will dim early in the evening
with the disappearance of sunlight . It will inculcate the habit of early to rise

next to puja room inculcates a sense of meditativeness and discipline in kids.

South West
The day and evening sun has longer infrared radiation, and tends to make
structures hotter. A overhead water tank acts as a thermal sink which
absorbs sunlight during the day keeping the building cool and releases as
heat during the night keeping it warm. This avoids variations in temperature
making the home energy eﬃcient.
Also, by raising the building on the South and West sides, the hot evening
sun will not heat the rest of the house.
