A Writer’s Journal is journal or notebook where students must write (the first five-ten minutes of class) about texts, poems, their themes, lessons discussed in class, concerns they have about papers, things going on in their lives, and certain topics I will provide later each and everyday. ***Writer’s Journal will not be graded for accuracy but as a completion grade at the end of each week. - This is a direct quote from the Board of Education and the Michigan Merit Curriculum document.
- All they things are abilities students should use to grow and learn throughout ninth grade English. Also they are important skills that each student should possess after the completion of their high school career.
- This map is based off the curriculum instructed by the M.M.C. and the Board of Educations for students. Since it would most likely take up three slides I only put what would be covered in the first few months of school.
- The reason why I thought it was important to add a writing journal to a students daily activity is because, based on the M.M.C. standards students, by the time they leave the 9th grade should have a better understanding and have improved their writing and literary analysis skills. This journal would give the students in my class the ability to work and grow in these areas.
- These are all words that students should be well acquainted with by the end of the 9th grade, based on the standards set by the Board of Education and the Michigan Merit Curriculum.
- The example question provided here came directly off the Michigan Merit Curriculum document and are important in the students learning process. These questions would/ should be focused on in a 9th grade English class.
