3. “Ruff!ʼʼ I woke to a bark. A really loud bark. I
sat up to yell “ Shut up! ʼʼ when I hit my head on my brown
bookshelf. It was 4: 00 in the morning. I was going to
confront whoever did that face to face.
“Ruff!ʼʼ “ Agh! ʼʼ I bounced as high as a
kangaroo. “Thatʼs it.ʼʼ I thought. I was going to confront
whoever did that face to face.
I got a helmet and a flashlight and swiftly
jogged to the steps. I heard it again. “ Whoever is doing
that is a idiot. ʼʼ I thought.
I thought it was really dark. I was really
scared. “ What is that? Why is it doing that? ʼʼ I thought. I
4. was going to go up and get a bat when “ Ruff! ʼʼ “It would
be better to check. ʼʼ I thought.
“ Ruff! ʼʼ I thought that I was going to get killed.
“ Maybe it will run away from the light. ” I thought. I felt like
screaming so loud that my mom would ground me. I just
kept on saying “ Be brave. ʼʼ
I reached the bottom step when “ Gr ” “ Wait a
minute ... that sounds like a dog!!! ” I exclaimed. I wasnʼt
scared of going downstairs anymore. I felt like going down
and muzzling that dog.
“Huh!ʼʼ I gasped. I was so scared that I was
PARALYSED IN HORROR!!! I dropped my flashlight. The
huge shadow was getting closer! The closer it got the
bigger it got! I was unparalyse when his real appearance
came.
I was flabbergasted! It was hilarious. I
couldnʼt wait to show Mom. I couldnʼt wait to tell Matt. The
huge shadow I was afraid of turned out to be my new
puppy!

I Ben Dunford live in Clark NJ. I have three dogs named
Lucky, Gizmo, and Magic. I dedicate this book to Gizmo,
the dog I wrote this story about. Iʼve had Gizmo for 2
years, Lucky for 7 years, and my Mom and Dad got magic
before I was born! Me and my brother Matthew walk my
dogs every day. Gizmoʼs good qualities are he is playful,
energetic, and loyal. He is the best dog that I could ever
get.
