  1. In a non-sporting environment life-long allegiances are far less common. If for no other reason, a sporting brand is often a monopoly in a territory. Also, sporting brands often outlive non-sporting brands. Where are all the Ansett frequent flyers? Where did all the Virgin FF customers come from (they were Qantas customers once).
