1. Write an essay using description to develop one of the
following topics. Remember that an effective description
focuses on a dominant impression and arranges details to
support that impression. Vivid and appealing details
should be chosen to appeal to the senses but not
overburden the material with secondary importance.
Consider varied sentence structure and imaginative figures
of speech to keep the piece appealing.
