Write an essay using description to develop one of the
following topics. Remember that an effective description
focuses on a dominant impression and arranges details to
support that impression. Vivid and appealing details
should be chosen to appeal to the senses but not
overburden the material with secondary importance.
Consider varied sentence structure and imaginative figures
of speech to keep the piece appealing.
A school (or large place) as a young child might see it
A coffee shop or some other small place
A parade or victory celebration
A food, fruit or vegetable; a houseplant
An elderly person; an attractive man or woman; a baby/child
The inside of something- a cave, boat, machine
An essential gadget; a useless gadget
A particular part of a room (your desk drawer)
