  1. I want to thank you for taking the time to explore your interest in Work One services. We will briefly go over what services are available to you through WorkOne
  2. WorkOne South Central encompasses 8 counties. 
  3. WorkOne Centers in Bedford, Bloomington and Linton are full service locations. 
  4. WorkOne Centers in Brown, Davies, Martin, Orange, and Owen counties are express sites and may offer less comprehensive services
  5. All locations can assess, counsel and guide you to be successful in your career goals.
  6. WorkOne can help you find a new or better job, choose a career, access training, or get information you need to succeed in today's ever-evolving workplace.
  7. There are many avenues you can follow with WorkOne. Some services are self guided and some will need you to work with a Case Manager. At the end of this orientation, you should have an idea on what works best for you!

  12. We will begin exploring how to assess your skills
  13. WorkOne offers assessments to review your skills. Please remember all things offered at WorkOne, including the assessments are FREE.
  14. To sign up for WorkKeys testing, you will need to first contact the WorkOne office to be scheduled for a testing date. Work Keys = is an assessment that identifies current work place skills and work readiness skills.
  15. Career Readiness Certificates = demonstrate to an employer that an individual has the essential employability skills for entry level positions. Certificates are given at a Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze level
  16. WIN = is a comprehensive, easy to use system for improving your skills prior to or after taking the work keys assessment. You will be given a username and password to allow for you to utilize this system at your convenience either at or outside of the WorkOne office.
  17. You can use the Indiana Career Explorer as an assessment on your own or with a case managers help.
  18. Indiana Career Explorer = an assessment of an career interest, aptitude and values. It is a useful tool to use when exploring careers.
  19. The results from the TABE assessment will be interpreted in a one on one setting.
  20. These scores are interpreted on a one on one setting and must be done prior to obtaining assistance in training
  21. WorkOne focuses on building the skills you already have
  22. WorkOne provides options for increased learning
  23. WIN – we have already reviewed WIN as a skills enhancement tool for math, language, and reading. It also offers a wide array of e-learning solutions for education, workforce development, economic development, learning management and Career Readiness. We will go over the other three items in the following screens
  24. MindLeaders = an on-line learning program offering over 4000 courses on topics from computer software skills to Six Sigma leadership skills.
  25. Skills learned may be applied to • Finding employment • Advancement on the job • Personal growth.
  26. The O*NET website is free and provides a source of occupational information.
  27. It contains information on occupations including what knowledge, skills, and abilities, are needed for specific careers.
  28. Occupational Training = provides training for eligible candidates which may cover costs including: tuition, books and supportive service in a Region 8 approved program.
  29. WorkOne provides the following workshops You are currently attending the orientation workshop. We will continue to explore the additional workshops in this presentation.
  30. Resume Writing workshop will offer detailed explanations as well as a step-by-step process for creating a resume and cover letter. It will include the different formats and strategies of a resume, how to identify your skills, electronic resumes, and the Do’s and Don'ts of a resume.
  31. Interviewing Techniques workshop is to help you prepare for and conduct effective interviews and follow-up strategies. Discussion will be on the interview types, definitions of an interview, answering tough questions, closing the interview, and follow up
  32. Career Research and Exploration workshop will help you increase your understanding and explore your preferences for types of work and careers.
  33. Job Search Techniques will teach job searching techniques to help you find the employment you really want . You’ll learn about the hidden job market, Indiana Career Connect, completing paper and on-line applications, and networking
  34. Unemployment insurance workshop will assist you with unemployment processes and procedures. Learn about vouchers completions and the do’s and don’ts for drawing your benefits.

It is designed for users with no or minimal computer experience and presented in an easy non threatening atmosphere. You’ll learn the basic concepts required to use a computer, Microsoft Word 2007, and Microsoft Excel 2007.
  37. Financial Literacy workshop will discuss budgeting, tips on managing finances, and how to save money. It will also include community resources and tips on economizing.
  38. Work Readiness workshop will teach skills, qualities, and strategies needed to become and remain successful on the job.
  39. Federal Employment workshop goes over the difference of the federal employment process differs from all other types of employment. Gain an improved understanding of how to find and apply for federal jobs. Learn the procedures necessary to successfully become a federal employee.

  50. OJT = On-the-Job Training is a program that allows a qualified individual to be hired and trained while working and earning an income.
  51. Work Opportunity Tax Credit promotes the hiring of individuals who qualify as members of target groups by providing tax credits to their employers.
  52. Bonding is a program which provides Fidelity Bonds for at-risk job seekers who could not otherwise be bonded.

  57. Job Referrals are provided through Indiana Career Connect. It makes it easy to identify open positions, in your city, county, region or state.
