Reflection Of Creative Writing
It is my belief that through this class and the tools provided, that my growth as a writer has grown
through leaps and bounds I would never have assumed possible. It is not so much the skill I refer
to, although I would think skill has gone up in some levels as well, but more so the appreciation for
the craft of writing itself. Intially, at the start of this class my sole goal was to further my
understanding and appreciation of the writer's and books that I so love to read. Through further
evaluation within the first week, a few other goals came to mind, of which were, making writing
a habit, finishing what I start, stop second guess my writing skills and making effective use of
detail and description. Through the use of the many articles, various reading materials, whether
poems or short stories, and especially through the workshop, I feel I was able to really push
myself to accomplishing these goals. I have thus far learned how important it is not to be skilled
at writing per say, but to have the will to write, that poetry is as much about it's sound as it is about
it's subject, just how important character development is, how the narration and point of view of a
story is essential to the way the story is told, and just how much of a difference peer's critiques can
make to your writing.
Since before the beginning of this creative writing course, I have always struggled to find a point to
writing. By this, I mean that I always felt that having great skill and talent was what was required
to be a writer, let alone a great one. From this point, I felt there was no need to continue my
writing as I felt that in a sense it just wasn't good enough. However, reading the article "A Way of
Writing", I found new hope. Here was a writer who says things such as "I must be willing to fail. If
I am to keep on writing, I cannot bother to insist on high standards. I must get into action and not let
anything stop me, or even slow me much"(Stafford) and quotes that writers don't necessarily have
any special talent. The article "Why I Write" instilled further optimism through the authors view on
just being a writer, not focusing on being good or bad. I found her words in which she writes

Turabian Style
Kate L. Turabian's Manual for Writers of Research Papers, Theses, and Dissertations presents two
basic documentation systems: notes–bibliography style (or simply bibliography style) and
author–date style (sometimes called reference list style). These styles are essentially the same as
those presented in The Chicago Manual of Style, sixteenth edition, with slight modifications for the
needs of student writers. Book Okuda, Michael, and Denise Okuda. 1993. Star trek chronology: The

Closing cycles, shutting doors, ending chapters – whatever name we give it, what matters is to leave
in the past the moments of life that have finished. Did you lose your job? Has a loving relationship
come to an end? Did you leave your parents' house? Gone to live abroad? Has a long–lasting
friendship ended all of a sudden? You can spend a long time wondering why this has happened.
You can tell yourself you won't take another step until you find out why certain things that were
so important and so solid in your life have turned into dust, just like that. But such an attitude will
be awfully stressing for everyone involved: your parents, your husband or wife, your friends, your
children, your sister. Everyone is finishing chapters, turning over new leaves, getting on with life,
and they will all feel bad seeing you at a standstill. Things pass, and the best we can do is to let
them really go away. That is why it is so important (however painful it may be!) to destroy
souvenirs, move, give lots of things away to orphanages, sell or donate the books you have at
home. Everything in this visible world is a manifestation of the invisible world, of what is going on
in our hearts – and getting rid of certain memories also means making some room for other
memories to take their place. Let things go. Release them. Detach yourself from them. Nobody plays

Reflection Of APA Style Writing
First of all I would like to thank you for the time and hard work you put in this semester to teach
my classmates and me. This semester I learned a lot in your class such as APA style writing, how
to write different format essays and Bloom's Taxonomy. In your course I not only lesrned how to
become a better learner but also a better person. I still remember how nervous I was feeling the
first day of class. This was my first semester attending college, which made me feel worse. Since
the first day I came into your class I was expecting this course to help me improve my writting
skills in English. I consider spelling to be my greatest weakness in writing because my first language
is Spanish and I have a lot of trouble learning English. In this letter I will let you know what I
learned and how I have met the programs standards of focus, development and clarity because I have
practice APA style, writting assays and using Bloom's Toxonomy
When I was in my senior year of high school, I learned a little about writing in APA style. In your
course I learned that I was making some mistakes when I thought I was using APA style the
correct way. Something that I considered to be very helpful for me was getting the help from the
librarian on how to use APA style using different kind of sources such as books, newspapers and
vedios. The yellow sheet he gave us in his presentation was allot of help throughout the semester
because I would always use it when It was time to do writing assignments. Learning how to
properly use Apa style was very helpful for me becuse now I apply those skills on my assignments
and I do a better job than befor. Now I feel way more comfortable and confident while writting.
Before learning the proper way of using APA style I was always unsure If I was giving credit to the
sources I was using. I'm planning on applying this writing skill in and out of class to have a clear
and smooth writing when It gets to give credit to sources.
Throughout the semester we practice literature by writing several essays such as diagnostic,
narrative, current event and common exit essay. In all these four essays the two that I found to be the
hardest ones was the narrative and the current even. I consider the narrative

The Gulf War Essay
The Gulf War
The Gulf War was much more than a fight to liberate Kuwait. It was the first non–conventional war;
in which new, fairly new, or even experimental weapons were used. The Gulf War displayed much
new technology that you will learn lots about in this paper. This paper may sound very technical, but
that is what it is about, the new weapon technology vs. the conventional types of weapons used in
previous wars. This paper is about the advancement of weapon technology, and how the military
changed the tactics used before.

"During the war, 297 Tomahawks were fired, of which 282 began their mission successfully, nine

as many as 6 were shot down, most or all of them in a single mission profile most of the way to its

Somebody once told me it is okay to be average as long as you are a good person. Life is short, do as
many things as you can to live a happy life and do all the things you aspire to do before time runs out.
One evening while I was on vacation visiting my grandparents we were sitting around the dinner
table eating a homemade meal made by my grandma. It was my mom, my sister, my foreign
exchange student, two of my good friends, and I all eating dinner together. Dinner had come to an
end and one of my friends and I were still sitting at the table with my grandpa. He has always been
a very inspirational person in my life and most of the things he says mean a lot and really make me

Even being an average person can be very difficult. If you look at a large amount of people in this
world, they are average or below average in most things they do. No one can be good at
everything, so don't ever think you have to be. Feeling pressured to be great at everything is one
thing no one should ever have to go through. All it seems to do is tear down people's' self esteem
creating more reserved and quiet people. Life is hard, and if it were meant to be easy, everyone
would be good at everything and the majority of things would be meaningless. So, what would be
the point of living a meaningless life? Take every situation in life and live it with the intention that it

A Woman 's Experience Of Slavery Essay
In history, a woman 's experience of slavery is presumed inadequate and useless. Unfortunately,
there are many experiences of women during slavery that is untouched and needs some highlight.
For instance, did enslaved women work as much as enslaved males? If so, did they work in the
same field or was there a difference. Women grew burdensome in that they would spitefully work
inefficiently and slower than needed, leading to the resistance. Specifically, this paper 's
discussion why are similarities and differences in the roles of enslaved women who resided in
both Jamaica and Barbados bring complications to slave owners. I will attempt to understand the
percipience of female slaves in the Caribbean, in order to gain a better insight into their lives and
daily experience that may or may not have been similar or different as well as what are some
possible reasons why an enslaved females' history is ignored and often generalized.
In the reading Laboring Women: Reproduction and Gender in New WorldSlavery, it sheds light on
the fact women worked as hard as men in the field work made available to them in Barbados. For
instance, men worked jobs considered "skilled" while women in comparison got jobs that were not
primarily for reproductive purposes as assumed from past slavery readings, but instead women
performed "women's work" (Morgan, 2004). Slave owners often refused to allow enslaved women
to occupy "skilled or artisanal positions" which were more common for men meant that

Comparing Email Vs. Traditional Letters
When compared on format, time and cost it is proven that emailing is more efficient than
traditional letters. In today's generation it is very rare for people to write traditional letters to each
other. This generation is becoming known for its quick and a technology based world. Emailing is
quick and simple and always at the tip of the fingers. Unlike emailing, traditional letters take time.
Emails are more commonly used than letters. This is because emails can be sent and received within
minutes. It is a much faster form of communication than a letter. In addition to the speed, an email
can be sent/received, emails can also be saved onto flash drives or directly on the computer.
Furthermore, with the new technology out today, many...show more content...
If someone is to write a more formal email you would start off by addressing the person by their
name and then get into the body of the email by replying to the purpose of the message. Most
emails are sent just for a quick reply.
Often times businesses use emails to communicate to other businesses, especially when dealing
with transactions. Having a record of when you talked to a person (email timestamps) is a
definitive way to make sure people hold up to their end of the deal. Businesses may also use emails
to share important documents with one another, you are able to attach a file and then you can share
any document you need to.
Communication through email is also able to cut down people's eco footprint. Using the internet to
share thoughts, documents, or have conversations cuts down the need for trees to be cut down.
When using an email, the only thing you need is the person's email address. Emails are not as
trustworthy as traditional letters however.
Traditional letters have a stronger trust behind them as most are hand delivered from door to door.
Often times with the capability to have a tracking number. Also like email, Traditional letters have
more of a formal format. Traditional letters usually start out with addressing the person in formal
way such as "Dear ... ", "Greetings ... ", "Good Morning/Evening/Afternoon", and etc.
A handwritten letter is seen as a more personal form of communication mainly because the

Reflection Paper On Moral Values
Reflective Essay (Morals) Morals and virtues have been a part of society and are pivotal to
surviving in any culture. All over the world, people are raised differently and have different beliefs
that ground them to their culture. Personally, growing up in a religious household I can see how
that has affected me and the foundation that my morals are based on. I think that there are different
cultures that have different morals and as difficult as it is to understand sometimes it is very
important to respect their beliefs. That being said, it is important to strive to live under a moral code
that I think is best. The vast variety of ethics and different moral beliefs can definitely cause
awkwardness or make some situations uncomfortable depending on the clashing cultures.
Although discussing morals can lead to awkward and uncomfortable situations, it is important to
stick to your moral foundations and respect other cultures as best you can. Growing up in a
moderately wealthy religious family in the United States, I had the ability to pick and choose
which set of morals I followed. Although my family did play a huge rule in creating the
foundation I live my life with, I was very free to decide which path I chose. As I grew up, the
influence of my parents slowly began to lessen and the virtues I had learned from them began to
mold me into the person I am today. I was also raised in a highly religious household. Even though
I am slowly moving away from the church going Christian I once was, the morals they engrained
into me are things I will hopefully never forget. The last and possibly most important ground was
where I was raised. The suburb outside of Cleveland Ohio where I grew up wasn't the worst place
to be raised, but it has definitely changed my morals from the ones set by my parents and the
church. Often times in school, I would have inner conflicts with the virtues set by my church, and
the nefarious activities my friends and I would want to do. I think this is a part of growing up.
This struggle has rounded my morals out leading me to be a good mix of both uptight and relaxed
depending on the situation. Regardless of the journey to moral satisfaction, the goal of perfection
should never leave your

THESIS: The themes of Shirley Jackson's, "The Lottery" and D.H. Lawrence's, "The Rocking–Horse

both of these stories are driven to what many would describe as insanity in the pursuit of a passion.
Ultimately, these pursuits end in unimaginable tragedy and pain. I. The townspeople in "The Lottery"

Passions drive people, and the townspeople in "The Lottery" and Paul in "The Rocking–Horse
Winner" are no different. Each of the members of the unnamed town has a strong passion for
tradition. The original black box used for the lottery is described as being, "lost long ago, and the
black box now resting on the stool had been put into use even before Old Man Warner, the oldest
man in town, was born" (Jackson 251). This sentence gives the reader an understanding that the
lottery is an ancient tradition that has become an integral part of the town's lifestyle. Such a
tradition can only be carried on for this length of time if the people are passionate about preserving
the tradition. Paul had a passion to be wealthy as a way to prove to his mother that he was lucky.
From a young age, he saw that his family always wanted more money to support a better lifestyle,
yet there never seemed to be enough. After learning from his mother that being lucky was the key to
having money, he resolved to prove to her that he was lucky by earning money through betting on
horses. Although these passions may seem benign, the reader soon discovers the effects these
passions have on the characters. As humans begin to pursue their passions, there often comes a time
when that pursuit becomes detrimental to their life. This is true in the cases of the characters in
these stories. As Paul

Mark Twain And Thurber Comparison Essay
Anisha Reynolds
Ms. Newell
ELA 10 14 November 2017
Comparison of Twain and Thurber Mark Twain and James Thurber portray conflict in their
humorous writing using literary devices. This enhances their stories and makes them enjoyable to
read. Mark Twain in "A Toast to the Oldest Inhabitant: The Weather of New England" and James
Thurber in "The Dog that Bit People" use hyperbole, understatement, and precise diction to
portray the conflict that develops their humorous writing. Thurber and Twain use hyperboles to
convey conflict. For example, when Uncle Horatio visits, he says, "He said he wasn't afraid of
any dog that ever lived and that he would put the dog's plate on the floor if we would give it to
him," (261). This shows how he is exaggerating, because it is impossible to not be afraid of every
dog that comes your way. This also shows that the dog is frightening to everyone but the owner. An
example from Twain's writing says,
"... Probable nor'–east to sou'–west winds, varying to the southard and westard and eastard and
points between; high and low...show more content...
In Thurber's work, when Muggs dies, it says, "On the board I wrote with an indelible pencil 'Cave
Canem'," (262). This shows Thurber's use of precise diction to show satire. Thurber uses latin to
show humorous writing because "Cave Canem" means Beware of the Dog. For example, in "A
Toast to the Oldest Inhabitant: The Weather of New England," Mark Twain states, "I like to hear
rain on a tin roof, so I covered part of my roof with tin, with an eye to that luxury. Well, sir, do you
think it ever rains on the tin? No, sir; skips it every time," (255). This shows Twain's use of precise
diction when he uses the words "skips it every time," because the rain can't skip something every
time. This also shows how his use of precise diction helps him create fantastic hyperboles that stir
one's imagination. Twain and Thurber's use of precise diction helps depict

Give Me Liberty Chapter 1 Summary
In chapter five of Give Me Liberty! , Eric Foner asks a very interesting question of the reader. The
question the author poses is "What key events sharpened the divisions between Britain and the
colonists in the late 1760s and early 1770s?" (Foner 174). This question is important because it
allows one to gain a better understanding of why the colonists will take the actions they do and
why some of the events in the 1770s occur. Although there were many reasons that caused the
divide between Britain and the North American colonists to further and become even more
apparent in the late 1760s and early1770s, there seems to be several key events that had a
significant impact on the relationship between the two groups. These events ranged from taxes
(often called acts) placed on various items to violent uprisings. It is important to note that even
before the 1760s, the relationship between the colonist in America and the government in England
(as well as its presence in America) had already been deteriorating. In fact, one of the reasons why
some groups made the journey across the Atlantic was because they wanted to be left alone by
Britain. In fact John Winthrop, a puritan leader who held the belief that his colony could be a "... a
city upon a hill..." (par. 14) if not interfered with by the English government. This belief would
eventually morph into a disdain for England, its key political figure(s), and its government. This
attitude would be carried on throughout the colonial

MLA Rough Draft
1.When writing, whether you paraphrase or directly quote someone else's ideas anywhere in your
paper, you must document the use of those borrowed ideas with an internal citation notation. In
MLA, there are two basic features of an internal citation. What are they?
In–text citation – This is a parenthetical citation within the paper that refers the reader to a list of
works cited. It commonly includes the author of the source and a page number, and punctuation
separates the author's last name and the page number. Nor is the abbreviation p. (for "page") used.
The period that ends the sentence appears after the closing parenthesis. 2.In MLA, if you work

In MLA, how are the works cited entries organized on the Work(s) Cited page?
пѓ Tell me how to arrange a works cited list on the page. No example required.
пЃ¶Create a new page at the end of your paper for a "Works Cited" list. Center the words "Works
Cited" at the top of the page. Double space after the title and begin entering citations.
пЃ¶Entries are listed alphabetically by the last name of the author or by the first major word of the
title if no author is given. If a source has more than one author, it is alphabetized by the last name of
the author whose name appears first. The entries are not numbered.
пЃ¶Entries are double–spaced.
пЃ¶The first line of each entry begins at the left margin. If more than one line is needed to complete
the entry, additional lines are indented five spaces or half an inch (this is called a hanging indent).
6.In MLA, if the source's identity is not worked into (written as part of) your sentence structure, how
does the internal citation look the first time you create it? Use your last name and page number 123

What I Learned In Mla Format
Reflection Essay
Throughout this semester I have learned many valuable resources, and tools. The big thing you
taught us was how to write and argument paper. Also I have learned different tools on
summarizing, how to better my skills for peer reviews, new library skills, and MLA format. Most of
these I already knew, but you taught us them more in depth, and you gave me better understandings
of them. With writing an argumentative paper, it's important to have all the right facts, and make
sure you have reliable sources. If you don't have the right facts or reliable sources nobody will
want to read your argument; because you wont have the right facts to back up your points. When
writing an argumentative paper, its good to know all the facts about each side. Knowing all the facts
about each side is important, because people want to read...show more content...
Like summarizing, and writing an essay I knew how to do it, but going in and listening to the
speaker explain it to us helped a lot. I learned more on how to use the thesaurus, and all the different

MLA format is something I have always kind of needed help with. Until this semester for some
reason I could never really cite my sources that well. Its something I knew how to do, but when it
came time to do it my mind went blank. When you went over everything on the bored that helped
me so much (also because I took notes), but only because you told us to take them. With MLA
format I learned that when quoting, if its more than three lines you have to use block quote. I didn't
know that till I got to this class.
In summary, all these skills will be helpful for my next few college years, and when I go off to get
jobs. Thank you for teaching us everything you have. From something you are supposed to teach to
common sense things. You are a wonderful teacher, and I'm so glad you were my

Informative Speech On Trauma
Loss of speech, sleeplessness, self–harms, nightmares, having suicidal thoughts or actions are some
signs that indicate a child that has experienced a traumatic event. Trauma is a reflective emotion,
triggered by how an individual /child may react to a frightening or shocking situation. It is defined
by the reaction of the child to a specific event. However, trauma to one child may not be trauma to
another. But the child that experiences this can be scared for a lifetime. This strain can begin as
soon as birth is given to a child, throughout his /her eighteen (18) years of childhood. Nevertheless
that child can have flashback of the event straight over into their adulthood depending on how they

–Your trauma might have been an accident; others may have died or been hurt badly including
you. Don't keep telling yourself you made this happen or you're the cause. We all face unexpected

spending too much time alone and start connecting with others; putting yourself in an environment
where you become more sociable with others around you, it may help you to start feeling safe again
if your trauma occurred because you were alone. So don't isolate. Talk about your problem.– It's
important to talk about your feelings with others, ask for the help or advice you need from a

certainly been impressive, but it has come by turning a blind–eye to our surroundings. "A prime
reason for our success is our flexibility as a switcher predator and scavenger. We are consummately
adaptable, able to switch form one resource baseВ—grasslands, forests or estuariesВ—to another, as
each is exploited to its maximum tolerance or use up. Like other successful species we have
learned to adapt ourselves to new environments. But, unlike other animals, we made a jump from
being successful to being a runaway success. We have made this jump because of our ability to
adapt environments for our own uses in ways that no other animal can match." Whether or not man
can continue to adapt to the emerging environment, however, is a difficult question. In a (literally)
rapidly changing world, it is difficult to look back on past or present to divine the future. But,
using Malthus' line of reasoning, one way or another mother nature will surely В‘take care of us'.
"Lack of resources, environmental degradation, famine and disease will in the painful fashion
known by our ancestors cut our species back. AIDS is the obvious example of a way in which to do

  • 1. Reflection Of Creative Writing It is my belief that through this class and the tools provided, that my growth as a writer has grown through leaps and bounds I would never have assumed possible. It is not so much the skill I refer to, although I would think skill has gone up in some levels as well, but more so the appreciation for the craft of writing itself. Intially, at the start of this class my sole goal was to further my understanding and appreciation of the writer's and books that I so love to read. Through further evaluation within the first week, a few other goals came to mind, of which were, making writing a habit, finishing what I start, stop second guess my writing skills and making effective use of detail and description. Through the use of the many articles, various reading materials, whether poems or short stories, and especially through the workshop, I feel I was able to really push myself to accomplishing these goals. I have thus far learned how important it is not to be skilled at writing per say, but to have the will to write, that poetry is as much about it's sound as it is about it's subject, just how important character development is, how the narration and point of view of a story is essential to the way the story is told, and just how much of a difference peer's critiques can make to your writing. Since before the beginning of this creative writing course, I have always struggled to find a point to writing. By this, I mean that I always felt that having great skill and talent was what was required to be a writer, let alone a great one. From this point, I felt there was no need to continue my writing as I felt that in a sense it just wasn't good enough. However, reading the article "A Way of Writing", I found new hope. Here was a writer who says things such as "I must be willing to fail. If I am to keep on writing, I cannot bother to insist on high standards. I must get into action and not let anything stop me, or even slow me much"(Stafford) and quotes that writers don't necessarily have any special talent. The article "Why I Write" instilled further optimism through the authors view on just being a writer, not focusing on being good or bad. I found her words in which she writes "entirely to find out what I'm Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Turabian's Manual for Writers of Research Papers, Theses, and Dissertations presents two basic documentation systems: notes–bibliography style (or simply bibliography style) and author–date style (sometimes called reference list style). These styles are essentially the same as those presented in The Chicago Manual of Style, sixteenth edition, with slight modifications for the needs of student writers. Closing cycles, shutting doors, ending chapters – whatever name we give it, what matters is to leave in the past the moments of life that have finished. Did you lose your job? Has a loving relationship come to an end? Did you leave your parents' house? Gone to live abroad? Has a long–lasting friendship ended all of a sudden? You can spend a long time wondering why this has happened. You can tell yourself you won't take another step until you find out why certain things that were so important and so solid in your life have turned into dust, just like that. But such an attitude will be awfully stressing for everyone involved: your parents, your husband or wife, your friends, your children, your sister. Everyone is finishing chapters, turning over new leaves, getting on with life, and they will all feel bad seeing you at a standstill. Things pass, and the best we can do is to let them really go away. That is why it is so important (however painful it may be!) to destroy souvenirs, move, give lots of things away to orphanages, sell or donate the books you have at home. Everything in this visible world is a manifestation of the invisible world, of what is going on in our hearts – and getting rid of certain memories also means making some room for other memories to take their place. Let things go. Release them. Detach yourself from them. Nobody plays this life Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 4. Reflection Of APA Style Writing First of all I would like to thank you for the time and hard work you put in this semester to teach my classmates and me. This semester I learned a lot in your class such as APA style writing, how to write different format essays and Bloom's Taxonomy. In your course I not only lesrned how to become a better learner but also a better person. I still remember how nervous I was feeling the first day of class. This was my first semester attending college, which made me feel worse. Since the first day I came into your class I was expecting this course to help me improve my writting skills in English. I consider spelling to be my greatest weakness in writing because my first language is Spanish and I have a lot of trouble learning English. In this letter I will let you know what I learned and how I have met the programs standards of focus, development and clarity because I have practice APA style, writting assays and using Bloom's Toxonomy When I was in my senior year of high school, I learned a little about writing in APA style. In your course I learned that I was making some mistakes when I thought I was using APA style the correct way. Something that I considered to be very helpful for me was getting the help from the librarian on how to use APA style using different kind of sources such as books, newspapers and vedios. The yellow sheet he gave us in his presentation was allot of help throughout the semester because I would always use it when It was time to do writing assignments. Learning how to properly use Apa style was very helpful for me becuse now I apply those skills on my assignments and I do a better job than befor. Now I feel way more comfortable and confident while writting. Before learning the proper way of using APA style I was always unsure If I was giving credit to the sources I was using. I'm planning on applying this writing skill in and out of class to have a clear and smooth writing when It gets to give credit to sources. Throughout the semester we practice literature by writing several essays such as diagnostic, narrative, current event and common exit essay. In all these four essays the two that I found to be the hardest ones was the narrative and the current even. I consider the narrative Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. The Gulf War Essay The Gulf War The Gulf War was much more than a fight to liberate Kuwait. It was the first non–conventional war; in which new, fairly new, or even experimental weapons were used. The Gulf War displayed much new technology that you will learn lots about in this paper. This paper may sound very technical, but that is what it is about, the new weapon technology vs. the conventional types of weapons used in previous wars. This paper is about the advancement of weapon technology, and how the military changed the tactics used before. "Desert Storm was the first combat test of the cruise missile system. It also marked the first coordinated Tomahawk and manned aircraft strike in history. Within the first few minutes of Operation Desert Storm, Tomahawk missiles launched from battleships Missouri and Wisconsin struck with accuracy at Iraq's presidential palace," (Hersh, Press, 1994, p.137). "During the war, 297 Tomahawks were fired, of which 282 began their mission successfully, nine failed to leave the tube and six fell into the water after leaving the tube. At least two, and possibly as many as 6 were shot down, most or all of them in a single mission profile most of the way to its target," (Friedman, Naval Institute Press, 1991, p.231). U.S. Forces used three platforms during the Gulf War that were in the stealth/low–observability category: the F–117 stealth fighter and two long–range cruise 3 missiles, the Tomahawk Land Attack Missile (TLAM) and the Conventional Air–Launched Cruise Missile (CALCM). Life is short, do as many things as you can to live a happy life and do all the things you aspire to do before time runs out. One evening while I was on vacation visiting my grandparents we were sitting around the dinner table eating a homemade meal made by my grandma. It was my mom, my sister, my foreign exchange student, two of my good friends, and I all eating dinner together. Dinner had come to an end and one of my friends and I were still sitting at the table with my grandpa. He has always been a very inspirational person in my life and most of the things he says mean a lot and really make me think. There was one thing my grandpa told...show more content... Even being an average person can be very difficult. If you look at a large amount of people in this world, they are average or below average in most things they do. No one can be good at everything, so don't ever think you have to be. Feeling pressured to be great at everything is one thing no one should ever have to go through. All it seems to do is tear down people's' self esteem creating more reserved and quiet people. Life is hard, and if it were meant to be easy, everyone would be good at everything and the majority of things would be meaningless. So, what would be the point of living a meaningless life? • 7. A Woman 's Experience Of Slavery Essay In history, a woman 's experience of slavery is presumed inadequate and useless. Unfortunately, there are many experiences of women during slavery that is untouched and needs some highlight. For instance, did enslaved women work as much as enslaved males? If so, did they work in the same field or was there a difference. Women grew burdensome in that they would spitefully work inefficiently and slower than needed, leading to the resistance. Specifically, this paper 's discussion why are similarities and differences in the roles of enslaved women who resided in both Jamaica and Barbados bring complications to slave owners. I will attempt to understand the percipience of female slaves in the Caribbean, in order to gain a better insight into their lives and daily experience that may or may not have been similar or different as well as what are some possible reasons why an enslaved females' history is ignored and often generalized. In the reading Laboring Women: Reproduction and Gender in New WorldSlavery, it sheds light on the fact women worked as hard as men in the field work made available to them in Barbados. For instance, men worked jobs considered "skilled" while women in comparison got jobs that were not primarily for reproductive purposes as assumed from past slavery readings, but instead women performed "women's work" (Morgan, 2004). Slave owners often refused to allow enslaved women to occupy "skilled or artisanal positions" which were more common for men meant that Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Comparing Email Vs. Traditional Letters When compared on format, time and cost it is proven that emailing is more efficient than traditional letters. In today's generation it is very rare for people to write traditional letters to each other. This generation is becoming known for its quick and a technology based world. Emailing is quick and simple and always at the tip of the fingers. Unlike emailing, traditional letters take time. Emails are more commonly used than letters. This is because emails can be sent and received within minutes. It is a much faster form of communication than a letter. In addition to the speed, an email can be sent/received, emails can also be saved onto flash drives or directly on the computer. Furthermore, with the new technology out today, many...show more content... If someone is to write a more formal email you would start off by addressing the person by their name and then get into the body of the email by replying to the purpose of the message. Most emails are sent just for a quick reply. Often times businesses use emails to communicate to other businesses, especially when dealing with transactions. Having a record of when you talked to a person (email timestamps) is a definitive way to make sure people hold up to their end of the deal. Businesses may also use emails to share important documents with one another, you are able to attach a file and then you can share any document you need to. Communication through email is also able to cut down people's eco footprint. Using the internet to share thoughts, documents, or have conversations cuts down the need for trees to be cut down. When using an email, the only thing you need is the person's email address. Emails are not as trustworthy as traditional letters however. Traditional letters have a stronger trust behind them as most are hand delivered from door to door. Often times with the capability to have a tracking number. Also like email, Traditional letters have more of a formal format. Traditional letters usually start out with addressing the person in formal way such as "Dear ... ", "Greetings ... ", "Good Morning/Evening/Afternoon", and etc. A handwritten letter is seen as a more personal form of communication mainly because the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Reflection Paper On Moral Values Reflective Essay (Morals) Morals and virtues have been a part of society and are pivotal to surviving in any culture. All over the world, people are raised differently and have different beliefs that ground them to their culture. Personally, growing up in a religious household I can see how that has affected me and the foundation that my morals are based on. I think that there are different cultures that have different morals and as difficult as it is to understand sometimes it is very important to respect their beliefs. That being said, it is important to strive to live under a moral code that I think is best. The vast variety of ethics and different moral beliefs can definitely cause awkwardness or make some situations uncomfortable depending on the clashing cultures. Although discussing morals can lead to awkward and uncomfortable situations, it is important to stick to your moral foundations and respect other cultures as best you can. Growing up in a moderately wealthy religious family in the United States, I had the ability to pick and choose which set of morals I followed. Although my family did play a huge rule in creating the foundation I live my life with, I was very free to decide which path I chose. As I grew up, the influence of my parents slowly began to lessen and the virtues I had learned from them began to mold me into the person I am today. I was also raised in a highly religious household. Even though I am slowly moving away from the church going Christian I once was, the morals they engrained into me are things I will hopefully never forget. The last and possibly most important ground was where I was raised. The suburb outside of Cleveland Ohio where I grew up wasn't the worst place to be raised, but it has definitely changed my morals from the ones set by my parents and the church. Often times in school, I would have inner conflicts with the virtues set by my church, and the nefarious activities my friends and I would want to do. I think this is a part of growing up. This struggle has rounded my morals out leading me to be a good mix of both uptight and relaxed depending on the situation. Writer's Statement Thesis Statement: Climate change is natural; however, advances of human society such as deforestation, industrialization, and the burning of fossil fuels, have increased the rate at which the climate is changing. My three major sources stood out when writing my research paper on climate change. My main source was Louis Bergeron's, "The World Can be Powered by Alternative Energy, Using Today's Technology, in 20–40 Years, Says Stanford Researcher Mark Z. Jacobson." In this article, Bergeron describes an energy researcher's plan to power the world with renewables within the next few decades. • 11. English 102 Fiction Essay The Pursuit of Passions ENGL 102: Composition and Literature Fall D 2014 Nicholas Pampaloni, L2366120 MLA Outline THESIS: The themes of Shirley Jackson's, "The Lottery" and D.H. Lawrence's, "The Rocking–Horse Winner" demonstrate a very powerful and sinister aspect of fallen human nature. The characters in both of these stories are driven to what many would describe as insanity in the pursuit of a passion. Ultimately, these pursuits end in unimaginable tragedy and pain. I. The townspeople in "The Lottery" and the family members in "The Rocking–Horse Winner" are caught up in their passions. A. Paul is pursuing answers as a way to earn money and become lucky. B. Each of the members of the unnamed town has a strong passion for tradition. The original black box used for the lottery is described as being, "lost long ago, and the black box now resting on the stool had been put into use even before Old Man Warner, the oldest man in town, was born" (Jackson 251). This sentence gives the reader an understanding that the lottery is an ancient tradition that has become an integral part of the town's lifestyle. Such a tradition can only be carried on for this length of time if the people are passionate about preserving the tradition. Paul had a passion to be wealthy as a way to prove to his mother that he was lucky. From a young age, he saw that his family always wanted more money to support a better lifestyle, yet there never seemed to be enough. After learning from his mother that being lucky was the key to having money, he resolved to prove to her that he was lucky by earning money through betting on horses. Although these passions may seem benign, the reader soon discovers the effects these passions have on the characters. As humans begin to pursue their passions, there often comes a time when that pursuit becomes detrimental to their life. This is true in the cases of the characters in these stories. • 12. Mark Twain And Thurber Comparison Essay Anisha Reynolds Ms. Newell ELA 10 14 November 2017 Comparison of Twain and Thurber Mark Twain and James Thurber portray conflict in their humorous writing using literary devices. This enhances their stories and makes them enjoyable to read. Mark Twain in "A Toast to the Oldest Inhabitant: The Weather of New England" and James Thurber in "The Dog that Bit People" use hyperbole, understatement, and precise diction to portray the conflict that develops their humorous writing. Thurber and Twain use hyperboles to convey conflict. For example, when Uncle Horatio visits, he says, "He said he wasn't afraid of any dog that ever lived and that he would put the dog's plate on the floor if we would give it to him," (261). This shows how he is exaggerating, because it is impossible to not be afraid of every dog that comes your way. This also shows that the dog is frightening to everyone but the owner. An example from Twain's writing says, "... Probable nor'–east to sou'–west winds, varying to the southard and westard and eastard and points between; high and low...show more content... In Thurber's work, when Muggs dies, it says, "On the board I wrote with an indelible pencil 'Cave Canem'," (262). This shows Thurber's use of precise diction to show satire. Thurber uses latin to show humorous writing because "Cave Canem" means Beware of the Dog. For example, in "A Toast to the Oldest Inhabitant: The Weather of New England," Mark Twain states, "I like to hear rain on a tin roof, so I covered part of my roof with tin, with an eye to that luxury. Well, sir, do you think it ever rains on the tin? No, sir; skips it every time," (255). This shows Twain's use of precise diction when he uses the words "skips it every time," because the rain can't skip something every time. This also shows how his use of precise diction helps him create fantastic hyperboles that stir one's imagination. • 13. Give Me Liberty Chapter 1 Summary In chapter five of Give Me Liberty! , Eric Foner asks a very interesting question of the reader. The question the author poses is "What key events sharpened the divisions between Britain and the colonists in the late 1760s and early 1770s?" (Foner 174). This question is important because it allows one to gain a better understanding of why the colonists will take the actions they do and why some of the events in the 1770s occur. Although there were many reasons that caused the divide between Britain and the North American colonists to further and become even more apparent in the late 1760s and early1770s, there seems to be several key events that had a significant impact on the relationship between the two groups. These events ranged from taxes (often called acts) placed on various items to violent uprisings. It is important to note that even before the 1760s, the relationship between the colonist in America and the government in England (as well as its presence in America) had already been deteriorating. In fact, one of the reasons why some groups made the journey across the Atlantic was because they wanted to be left alone by Britain. In fact John Winthrop, a puritan leader who held the belief that his colony could be a "... a city upon a hill..." (par. 14) if not interfered with by the English government. This belief would eventually morph into a disdain for England, its key political figure(s), and its government. This attitude would be carried on throughout the colonial Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The resumГ© was used as a practice for when we need to create them for professional jobs later in life. We were asked to create a resumГ© in a standard format and include information about ourselves that would make a potential hiring manager want to pick us. I highlighted all of my achievements and my academic successes, as well as including my interests and contact information. This project helped me understand the proper way to write a resumГ©, and helped me learn how to focus on my strengths. Before doing this project, I really didn't know how to format a resumГ©, nor did I fully know what went into it. MLA Rough Draft 1.When writing, whether you paraphrase or directly quote someone else's ideas anywhere in your paper, you must document the use of those borrowed ideas with an internal citation notation. In MLA, there are two basic features of an internal citation. What are they? In–text citation – This is a parenthetical citation within the paper that refers the reader to a list of works cited. It commonly includes the author of the source and a page number, and punctuation separates the author's last name and the page number. Nor is the abbreviation p. (for "page") used. Also I have learned different tools on summarizing, how to better my skills for peer reviews, new library skills, and MLA format. Most of these I already knew, but you taught us them more in depth, and you gave me better understandings of them. With writing an argumentative paper, it's important to have all the right facts, and make sure you have reliable sources. If you don't have the right facts or reliable sources nobody will want to read your argument; because you wont have the right facts to back up your points. • 17. Informative Speech On Trauma Loss of speech, sleeplessness, self–harms, nightmares, having suicidal thoughts or actions are some signs that indicate a child that has experienced a traumatic event. Trauma is a reflective emotion, triggered by how an individual /child may react to a frightening or shocking situation. It is defined by the reaction of the child to a specific event. However, trauma to one child may not be trauma to another. But the child that experiences this can be scared for a lifetime. This strain can begin as soon as birth is given to a child, throughout his /her eighteen (18) years of childhood. Nevertheless that child can have flashback of the event straight over into their adulthood depending on how they cope with the situation. Don't keep telling yourself you made this happen or you're the cause. We all face unexpected shocks in life that we have to face, but don't make it harder on yourself by blaming it on you. Avoid spending too much time alone and start connecting with others; putting yourself in an environment where you become more sociable with others around you, it may help you to start feeling safe again if your trauma occurred because you were alone. So don't isolate. Talk about your problem.– It's important to talk about your feelings with others, ask for the help or advice you need from a friend or family member you can trust. It's better to express your feelings than bottling everything inside. The roles of man, naturally occurring trends, and earth's cycles are considered, and an outlook for what can be expected in the near and distant future is given. В‘The uneasiness of modern man arises from a rupture between himself and nature that leaves him homeless within the universe...' Material consumption and ever increasing populations are already stressing...show more content... The point here is not to provide an evaluation of Malthus, and one might well argue that he was wrong in many of his predictions; but rather to highlight the posit that man has long been living beyond his means. Sooner or later, this will have its consequences. As a species, our success has certainly been impressive, but it has come by turning a blind–eye to our surroundings. "A prime reason for our success is our flexibility as a switcher predator and scavenger. We are consummately adaptable, able to switch form one resource baseВ—grasslands, forests or estuariesВ—to another, as each is exploited to its maximum tolerance or use up. Like other successful species we have learned to adapt ourselves to new environments. But, unlike other animals, we made a jump from being successful to being a runaway success. We have made this jump because of our ability to adapt environments for our own uses in ways that no other animal can match." Whether or not man can continue to adapt to the emerging environment, however, is a difficult question. In a (literally) rapidly changing world, it is difficult to look back on past or present to divine the future. But, using Malthus' line of reasoning, one way or another mother nature will surely В‘take care of us'. "Lack of resources, environmental degradation, famine and disease will in the painful fashion known by our ancestors cut our species back. AIDS is the obvious example of a way in which to do Get more content on HelpWriting.net
