  1. KEYNOTE SPEAKER Health Care Transformation – The Way Forward Prof Awg Bulgiba Awg Mahmud The first Malaysian doctor to gain a PhD in Health Informatics, Prof Awg Bulgiba (MBBS, MPH, MAppStat, PhD, FFPH, FPHMM, FAMM, FASc) is currently Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) and Professor of Public Health (Epidemiology and Biostatistics Unit) in the University of Malaya. He teaches clinical epidemiology and medical statistics mainly to postgraduates and he currently carries out research in infectious diseases, modifiable chronic diseases and medical informatics. Prof Awg Bulgiba has been a consultant for several organisations and private companies. In addition, he continues to be an Associate Editor for the Asia Pacific Journal of Public Health, Editor for the Malaysian Orthopaedic Journal as well as an International Advisory Board member for the Journal of Experimental & Clinical Medicine. He is also an ad hoc statistical reviewer for numerous medical journals and continues to be a resource person in scientific writing. He currently sits on several national level committees including the Project Monitoring Team for the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, HICoE (Service Thrust) Committee for the Ministry of Education, Steering Committee for the Science Act as well as several other committees within and outside the University of Malaya. Prof Awg Bulgiba has been an external examiner and assessor for several universities, was the founding Head of the Julius Centre UM (2008-2012), Chair for the University of Malaya Wellness Programme (2007-2009) and the Malaysian coordinator for the AsiaEurope CE & EBM Programme (2007-2010). In 2008, Prof Awg Bulgiba was the Organising Chair for the 40th Asia-Pacific Academic Consortium for Public Health (APACPH) Conference in Kuala Lumpur (7-9 Nov 2008) which was organised in a record 10 weeks from inception to actual conference. He was also the Organising Chair for the 1st Asia Pacific Clinical Epidemiology and Evidence-Based Conference (6-8 July 2012) and was recently elected as President of APACPH KL, an NGO dedicated to public health. Prof Awg Bulgiba has published more than 70 peer-reviewed journal articles and more than 30 conference abstracts and is currently Principal Investigator for a few research projects, one of which is the RM3 million (US$900,000) Spatio-Temporal Modelling and Meta-analysis (STeMM) Project, awarded under the MOHE-UM High Impact Research Grant Programme. He has supervised to completion a total of 24 postgraduates in public health and is currently a supervisor/advisor for 9 doctoral students, which includes 2 from other universities in Japan and Malaysia.
  2. INTERNATIONAL SPEAKER Prof Dr Anahita Jablonski–Momeni Dental School, Philipps University of Marburg, Germany Dr. Arunee Unsook D.D.S., M.S. (Pediatric Dentistry), Ph.D. (Dental Biomaterials Science) Dr Anihita Joblanski-Momeniis a Specialist registered with the German Society of Pediatri chails from Germany. She currently holds the position of Associate Professor in the Department of Paediatri and Community Dentistry at the Dental School, Phillips University of Marburg, one of the oldest univesity in Germany built in 1527 . Graduated in 1998, her work experience included as a general dental practitioner in Mainz, Germany and later on she moved into private practice in 1999-2000. In 2000 she decided to move on to become a Clinical Instructor at the Marburgh Dental School. She has since gone up to be appointed as a Senior lecturer (2004), Assistant Professor (2009). She been involved with the studies on validation of the International Caries Detection and Assessment System (ICDAS-II) for the diagnosis of occlusal caries. Dr Momeni has won many awards and has 60 national and international publications. Dr. Arunee is currently based in Bangkok, Thailand. She obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1993, her Master of Science in Pediatric Dentistry in 1998 and her Doctor of Philosophy in Dental Biomaterials Science in 2012 from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. She has several working experiences in multiple sectors, such as being a Division Head at Saraburi Provincial Health and Kang Khoi Community Hospital, Ministry of Public Health of Thailand for 8 years; working in dental schools as an Assistant to the Dean at Faculty of Dentistry, Thammasat University for 3 years and practicing pediatric dentist in a private hospital for more than 15 years until now. Currently, Dr. Arunee is working for Johnson& Johnson Consumer & Personal Products Worldwide as an Associate Director, Scientific and Professional Affairs, Asia-Pacific. She has numerous lecturing invitations particularly in prevention at both nationally and internationally. Dr. Seneviratne received her bachelor of dental surgery in India and completed a special attachment at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Singapore (NUS). Prior to joining Colgate Cyanthi gained teaching experience as an assistant lecturer at the Dental Faculty, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka and gained research and product development experience for 10 years as a Senior Product Manager Asia-Pacific region at Shofu Inc. Singapore. Dr Cyanthi SENEVIRATNE (Singapore) Senior Scientific Affair Manager Colgate Palmolive, Asia Division In 2010 Cyanthi joined Colgate Palmolive Asia Division as the Senior Scientific Affairs Manager. With special interest in the area of prevention technologies and dental research she has initiated several research programs, expert panel discussions and presented lectures in the Asia-Pacific region.

A special cash award to commemorate this first conference will be given to the best project(s). Presentation Format The presentation must be in the form of a poster. Judging of the posters will take place during the conference. Each candidate will be required to make a short oral presentation in the presence of the judges and also to answer their questions at a designated time as shown in the program.
