Rifle scopes

  1. 1. Rifle Scopes By Ben Paul
  2. 2. How It works The rifle scope works by magnifying the object that you want to shoot. For it to do that for you it has lots of bits of glass through the middle of the scope. To get it at the right distance for you to shoot with out missing the target you can turn little knobs and that will move the bits of glass to magnify the object.
  3. 3. Different types There a lots of different types of rifle scopes that you could have but it depends on what you want to hit and how good a quality you want it to be. For example if your shooting targets for competition your going to want a different scope compared to in the bush deer hunting.
  4. 4. Other types of sights • Open sights require the hunter to line up two points at the end of the barrel and just in front of the stock on the gun. • Aperture sights are like open sights but have a ring just in front of the stock instead of a point. • Laser sights project a laser beam from the barrel to the target.
  5. 5. Who invented it The first telescopic sight was invented between 1835-1840 and it was made by Morgan James of Utica. Morgan James was a civil engineer and in 1855 William Malcolm began making his own telescopic sight and William used the same plans as what James had and improved things like the windage and elevation adjustments.
