2. Cliff Dwellings
Dark Canyon in Utah. This Anasazi construction style with a perfectly window design
formed by flat rocks at the bottom and top; and small flat rocks on the sides provide a
magnificent view from the cliff to the wilderness of the canyon.
3. Pueblo people created distinctive structures for living, worshiping, defense, storage, and
daily life. Modern world build similar construction homes designs, the incredible view of
this property may increase financial value but for pueblo people the value was spiritual a
step closer to the sky.

independent of cliffs surrounded by walls. Similar concept to our Gated Communities
today.
6. Pit Houses - Another type of dwelling most of the populations of the Southwest lived in, carefully
dug rectangular or circular depressions in the earth with branch and mud adobe walls supported by
log sized corner posts. This was a very creative architecture used, Pueblo people considered
columns to support the weight, digging to lay out the structure and shape. Most architectures and
developers use similar techniques before they start a construction project.
7. Cliff Dwellings – Another type of dwelling for the pueblo people, constructed at the sides
of the mesas and mountains of the Southwest, almost invisible to the eyesight blend it
between the canyons, perfect location for the proximity to water supply.
8. The kiva is a subterranean isolated dark room reached by ladder through
an opening in the roof. The symbolism of the hole refers to a man leaving
the womb of the earth. These sacred places were always separate from the
living quarters and very limited space.
9. Community
Anazasi community build their homes
with close proximity to each other and
share some responsibilities. Modern
communities are very similar today,
we interact with our neighbors,
children share school buildings, and
in some places a surrounding wall
separate one community from others.
10. Pueblo Bonito in Chaco Canyon, New Mexico, center of the Anazazi world, a
magnificent architectural project, with a half moon shape, surrounded by
green fields, blue skies and a peaceful sound of the wind.

material used today on home and office buildings.
