  1. BASKETBALL
  2. BEGINNG • The basketball was born as a response to the need for any sport during the winter, the YMCA school in Massachusetts.
  3. RULES • James Naismith devised a set of thirteen rules for basketball.
  4. Women's basketball • Women's basketball began in 1892 at Smith College when Senda Berenson, a physical education teacher, modified Naismith rules to suit the needs of women.
