Playworker – Job description Roles and responsibilities • To create an inclusive play space that offers access to the elements, the senses, concepts and identity. • To create a varied landscape through the provision of loose parts, risk and challenge • To support and extend children's play through responding to play cues and using intervention styles that enhance play without stopping play • Be punctual • Be good role models • Set up the play space and clean up play space • Complete session plans prior to the session • Undertake evaluation at end of the session • To ensure all paperwork is completed and kept in a safe place – ensure confidentiality of all data i.e. registration forms (for every child), registers, accident forms, incident forms, risk assessments • Build positive relationships with parents, carers and or guardians • Health and Safety • be aware of hazards in the play setting • clean up any unnecessary hazards • undertake spot checks of number of children and young people on site • encourage children and young people to inform playworker when they leave • ensure playworker is on the door when children leave (Ynysybwl specifically -road) • undertake dynamic risk assessments – continually observe the children and young people playing, responding to what happens • undertake regular fire drills • Ensure you know what the policies and procedures are for the play setting • Child protection • Be vigilant • report any concerns to line manager (Louisa Addiscott) • see settings policies and procedures • Team work • work as part of a team • support each other • do your fair share of the not so nice jobs • be open and honest
