This document provides an overview of the Postgraduate Certificate in Dyslexia and Literacy course from Penny Harris. The course includes strands in psychology, practical assessment and teaching delivered through lectures, examples, activities, forums and quizzes. Students will gain supervised experience assessing and teaching learners individually using multisensory methods. Administrative, education, and psychology tutors provide support. Assignments include lesson planning, materials development, assessment reports, and a teaching intervention project. Students form learning communities through forums and clusters with tutor teams. Deadlines are fixed and extensions may be granted for unforeseen circumstances with evidence. Successful completion provides new skills and knowledge to become a dyslexia specialist teacher.

15. Penny Harris Extensions Formative assignments have submission dates. Examined assignments – Deadlines Extension requests may be made only in unforeseen circumstances. Will require evidence with application. Non-submission = failure of course.
