Benchmark indices have closed firm, amid volatile trading session, supported by strong
buying among rate-sensitive sectors mainly financials and auto as the further softening
in retail inflation to a four-month low of 4.87% in April gave rise to hopes of a rate-cut by
the RBI.
Nifty May 2015 futures closed at 8250.75 on Wednesday at a premium of 15.30 points
over spot closing of 8,235.45, while Nifty June 2015 futures ended at 8,278.35 at a
premium of 42.90 points over spot closing. Nifty May futures saw contraction of 0.22
million (mn) units, taking the total outstanding open interest (OI) to 13.86 million (mn)
units
Highest open interest has been seen in 8300 and 8400 strike price for call option and in
8000 and 8100 strike price for put option.
