1. 1. INTRODUCTION OF THE TOPIC
Media is a channel or a medium of propagation that is used to spread information among the people, or
just for entertainment etc. Mass media denotes a section of the media specifically designed to reach a
large audience. The term was coined in the 1920s with the advent of nationwide radio networks, mass-
circulation newspapers and magazines. However, some forms of mass media such as books and
manuscripts had already been in use for centuries.
On the other side, Youth is an alternative word to the scientifically-oriented adolescent and the common
terms of teen and teenager. Another common title for youth is young person or young people. Youth
also identifies a particular mindset of attitude, as in "He is very youthful". The term youth is also related
to being young.
The media affects everyone, depends what type the youth look at. A few teens focus on the
bad sections of the media and soon strive to be a part of it. However, many are not succumbed
to a life of crime.
Media has affected their thinking patterns and their opinions towards various topic and subjects as well
as opened new avenues and a whole plethora of subjects that were previously not even given a
mention.
One of the most important things that media does for the youth is keeps them informed and engaged as
well as encourages them to move in the right direction. However, there are many other who would also
insist that it has done more harm than good, especially to the youth.
2. 2. RESEARCH DESIGN
OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY
The basic objective of the study is to find out that what effects media has on the youth. Media has been
said to have both the positive as well as negative effects on the youth. So, with the help of this study we
can find out whether media has been more on the positive side or negative side.
HYPOTHESIS
Let us assume that media plays both a positive and a negative role in the building of the nation and in
the same way has both a positive as well as a negative impact on the youth.
ADVANTAGES
-Our study will help as a guiding force for other researchers for having a better insight of the subject
concerned being used.

LIMITATIONS
Though every possible effort has been done on the part of the researcher, still if there are some
lacunae, it should not be taken into consideration.

aims to combine relevance to the research purpose. It comprises of various parts as in what the study is
all about, why the study being made, how will the study being carried out, what kind of data is required,
what kind of study( research) is it etc.
In this particular study, the impact of media is being judged as in what manner does the media affects
the youth. It is being assumed that the media has both negative and a positive role to play in the nation
or more precisely society building process.
4. DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
The study will be ‘QUALITATIVE’. The reason why the study comes under qualitative research is that we
are going to find out about the psychological impact of media on youth. For the same, we will do
sampling and will conduct a survey which will help us in finding out the required result.
CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTIONS
The above study and the conducted survey would easily reveal that the media has both positive as well
as negative effects on today’s youth. The media has brought the people all over the world very
closer. We have to take the positive aspects and use it for good purpose. The media and
public should help to drive away the negative effects of the media.

The common man gets the latest news within a fraction of seconds. Some bogus news given
in the newspaper may raise blood pressure and create negative feelings in the mind. The
media helps common people to exchange information and it acts as a common platform.
The children learn violence by seeing movies and TV programs. The children get immense
pleasure in playing video games and they spend hours together before computer, surfing
through internet. The media conducts polls and let public to take part in social issues.
Well, above are some of the facts which came forward during the course of the study.
Therefore, as a coin has two faces similarly media has both positive as well as a negative
impact on our today’s youth.
