3. Demand for PM IBM, for instance, started with 5,000 employees in India five years ago, and now they have over 80,000. The reason they have managed such a growth is because of their superior performance in managing projects. The Economic Survey this year shows that over 260 infrastructure-related projects are behind schedule — about 80 related to roads. The major difference in what management schools teach you and is what project management looks at is the output — a clearly defined outcome Meta Group More than 75 percent of 219 IT executives interviewed this year indicated that a lack of in-house project management skills was a major issue for them. Forrester Inc concurred with this research saying, “A lot of unofficial training is going on where people take on the role of project manager.” However, most executives also concurred that providing project management training to IT focused staff was a big “challenge”.
