1. Goals
A Data Scientist with a 3600 approach to Data Analytics. Having worked in the area of
Automation,Modeling, Control Systems and Data Design and Analytics for more than 33
years, I have considerable experience in Understanding the Data to be Collected,
Acquiring this from Various Equipment, Logging them on to a Central Server, Modeling
Data to arrive at Algorithms that Improve Plant Performance. Create self-learning
systems in the process.
Key desire in the new assignment
I would like to leave a legacy in terms of harnessing the technology available today to its
fullest extent in any process. I am willing to relocate to any part of the world, travel and
willing to put my heart and soul into the work as long as my dream of creating a legacy is
met. I always believed that there are 4Ms for any project to succeed Men, Material,
Method and Madness. I am sure I can contribute to all of these in large measures and
build a culture in the organization which will take these forward even after I retire from
there.
Successes
One key success story has been the use of this technology to improve Production
Schedules for a Heat Treatment Facility having 42 furnaces. The vision and the results
are spelt out in the paper entitled “Data Driven Models and Optimization
Technologies to Optimize Production Schedules and Facility Productivity”,
Stephanides, Andreas and Prabhakar Sastri Automation, Control and Intelligent
Systems 2016; 4(1): 1-9.
Five other key success stories stand out. The first is that recorded in a the paper entitled
“A Methodology for Facility Design and Optimal Loading of an Electroplating
Plant, Markus Marschall, B R Kiran, S R Chandrasekhar and Prabhakar Sastri,
Transactions of the IMF 2015; 93(1); 4-7.
The second which is being chronicled is the increase in productivity of a 100%
(from 6000 tons per month to 12000 tons per month) in one of the Electric Arc
Furnace Facility within a period of six months.
The third is the increase in productivity of a 50% (from 135 tons per day to 195
tons per day) in one of the Vegetable Oil Refining Facility within a period of four
months.
The fourth is Modelling of Facilities required for Plant Expansion. We have done
this for JSW and for Essar Gujarat wherein when the plant capacity is being increased the
facilities and equipment required is predicted using modelling techniques. This includes
ancillaries as well as infrastructure such as rail and roadways.
2. Finally Designed, Developed and Implementation Customized Software
