ION BATTERY.
 HAS THREE SOLID STATE
RECORDERS (SSRS).
 Liquid Engine used to
travel towards moon.
 Dual gimballed antenna
to transfer scientific data.
•PSLV is a Polar Satellite Launch
Vehicle, which launched the
chandrayaan successfully in
transfer orbit.
•PSLV-C11 is the uprated version of
its standard configuration.
•Weighing 316 tonnes at lift-
off,Uses both solid and liquid
propellants.
•Prefered launching vehicle of
ISRO with 13 consecutive flights

Ground Segment:
 ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network
(ISTRAC) has established the ground segment of
Chandrayaan-1, which consists of the following:
 INDIAN DEEP SPACE NETWORK(IDSN)
 SPACECRAFT CONTROL CENTRE.
 INDIAN SPACE SCIENCE DATA
CENTRE(ISSDC).
INDIAN DEEP SPACE NETWORK:
 It will receive the data sent
by the Chandrayaan-1
spacecraft.
 consists of two large
parabolic antennae – one
with 18 m diameter and
the other 32 m diameter, at
Bangalore.
SPACECRAFT CONTROL CENTRE
It is located near the
ISTRAC campus,
north of Bangalore, is
the focal point
of all the operational
activities of
Chandrayaan-
1 during all phases of
the mission
INDIAN SPACE SCIENCE DATA CENTRE
 The third element of
ground segment , also
located at Banglore.
 Will receive data from
IDSN as well as other
external stations that
support Chandrayaan-1,
 Store, process , retrieve
and distribute scientific
data sent by Chandrayaan-
1 payloads to the user
agencies.
C0NSEQUENCES:
 IT WILL INSPIRE MILLIONS OF STUDENTS TO
BECOME A PART OF OUR COUNTRY’S OWN SPACE
PROGRAMME.
 IT WILL INSPIRE ALL THE INDIANS WORKING IN
VARIOUS FOREIGN SPACE AGENCIES THAT THEY
HAVE AN ALTERNATIVE TO WORK IN INDIA.
 INDIA MAY BE SEEN AS A VIABLE
TECHNOLOGICAL PARTNER AND CAN POSITION
ITSELF TO BE THE DESTINATION FOR SCIENTIFIC
RESEARCH.

  • 3. WHY GO TO MOON?????  ORIGIN AND EVOLUTION.  INDIA’S POTENTIAL .  ONE MILLION TONNES OF HELIUM3 ON MOON’S SURFACE.  HELIUM3 IS BELIEVED TO BE FUEL OF THE FUTURE.  OUTPOST FOR FURTHER PLANETARY EXPLORATIONS.
  • 4. Introduction:  CHANDRAYAAN LITEARLLY MEANS MOON VECHILE .  INDIA’S FIRST UNMANNED MISSION TO MOON DEVOLPED BY ISRO.  WAS LAUNCHED ON 22 OCTOBER 2008 FROM SATISH DHAWAN SPACE CENTRE SRIHARIKOTA, ANDHRA PRADESH .  ESTIMATED COST - RS 386 CRORE
  • 5. · Objectives of the Chandrayaan-1  SIMULTANEOUS MINERALOGICAL, CHEMICAL & PHOTO-GEOLOGICAL MAPPING .  HIGH RESOLUTION MAPPING OF THE LUNAR SURFACE TO IDENTIFY MINERAL .  3D MAPPING OF LUNAR SURFACE AT VERY HIGH SPATIAL RESOLUTION.  TO MOTIVATE THE YOUNG MINDS IN SPACE AND PLANETARY SCIENCE.
  • 6. SPECIFICATIONS:  MASS: 1380 KG AT LAUNCH.  SHAPE: CUBOID  POWER: SOLAR PANEL GENERATING 700 W OF POWER, STORED IN A 36 A-H LITHIUM- ION BATTERY.  HAS THREE SOLID STATE RECORDERS (SSRS).  Liquid Engine used to travel towards moon.  Dual gimballed antenna to transfer scientific data.

  • 20. Ground Segment:  ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC) has established the ground segment of Chandrayaan-1, which consists of the following:  INDIAN DEEP SPACE NETWORK(IDSN)  SPACECRAFT CONTROL CENTRE.  INDIAN SPACE SCIENCE DATA CENTRE(ISSDC).
  • 21. INDIAN DEEP SPACE NETWORK:  It will receive the data sent by the Chandrayaan-1 spacecraft.  consists of two large parabolic antennae – one with 18 m diameter and the other 32 m diameter, at Bangalore.
  • 22. SPACECRAFT CONTROL CENTRE It is located near the ISTRAC campus, north of Bangalore, is the focal point of all the operational activities of Chandrayaan- 1 during all phases of the mission
  • 23. INDIAN SPACE SCIENCE DATA CENTRE  The third element of ground segment , also located at Banglore.  Will receive data from IDSN as well as other external stations that support Chandrayaan-1,  Store, process , retrieve and distribute scientific data sent by Chandrayaan- 1 payloads to the user agencies.
  • 24. C0NSEQUENCES:  IT WILL INSPIRE MILLIONS OF STUDENTS TO BECOME A PART OF OUR COUNTRY’S OWN SPACE PROGRAMME.  IT WILL INSPIRE ALL THE INDIANS WORKING IN VARIOUS FOREIGN SPACE AGENCIES THAT THEY HAVE AN ALTERNATIVE TO WORK IN INDIA.  INDIA MAY BE SEEN AS A VIABLE TECHNOLOGICAL PARTNER AND CAN POSITION ITSELF TO BE THE DESTINATION FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH.
