What is a Rich Internet Application(RIA)? RIAs are  a new class of Web applications that provides a rich, interactive user experience. (Fraternali et al, 2010) Improve potential user experience: client-side data and computation bidirectional client-server communication synchronous and asynchronous events rich interface widgets
Platforms Abundance of platforms! Java Flex Silverlight Curl Cappuccino Google Web Toolkit Lively Kernal Many more! Confusion!
Importance & Relevance Unified Acceptance and Use of Technology Theory User intentions to use an information system and subsequent usage behavior(Eckhardt et. Al, 2009) Social influence of workplace. Found significant impact of social influence from workplace referents on information technology adoption
Purpose of Research Social influence cause significant persuasion to a person’s usage intention to a new technology. This research will attempt to obtain this potential key to motivation by monitoring and measuring the engagement generated in current social media by empirical research.
Research Question What is the perception of the most appropriate platform used to develop a RIA. Specially in user interface design

Keyword analysis Flash had the most keywords relating to UI
Analysis More “chatter” was generated After journal was released – Adobe Flex Video management solution released - Silverlight There was the most “chatter” about Adobe Flex Available Concurrent to the high penetration rate Flex ->Design Silverlight, JavaFX -> Programming
Conclusion In the age of approaching the semantic web, different industries are gearing towards RIAs for a richer user experience. There are different kinds of RIA platforms that are currently available. Social influence is often used to choose to narrow down which platform to use.

  • 3. What is a Rich Internet Application(RIA)? RIAs are  a new class of Web applications that provides a rich, interactive user experience. (Fraternali et al, 2010) Improve potential user experience: client-side data and computation bidirectional client-server communication synchronous and asynchronous events rich interface widgets
  • 4. Platforms Abundance of platforms! Java Flex Silverlight Curl Cappuccino Google Web Toolkit Lively Kernal Many more! Confusion!
  • 5. Importance & Relevance Unified Acceptance and Use of Technology Theory User intentions to use an information system and subsequent usage behavior(Eckhardt et. Al, 2009) Social influence of workplace. Found significant impact of social influence from workplace referents on information technology adoption
  • 6. Purpose of Research Social influence cause significant persuasion to a person’s usage intention to a new technology. This research will attempt to obtain this potential key to motivation by monitoring and measuring the engagement generated in current social media by empirical research.

  • 14. Conclusion In the age of approaching the semantic web, different industries are gearing towards RIAs for a richer user experience. There are different kinds of RIA platforms that are currently available. Social influence is often used to choose to narrow down which platform to use.
