The Climate Trust provided $11 million in financing to carbon offset projects that reduced emissions by 2.5 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalents. Priority project sectors for carbon offsets include dairy digesters, organic waste digestion, composting, and forestry. A dairy digester project reducing emissions from 2,500 cows can generate $10,000 in carbon offset revenue in the first year and $40,000 annually for years 2 through 10, with a net present value of $250,000 over 10 years. Transaction costs for offset projects include upfront preparation and equipment fees as well as annual verification and registry costs. Larger project scales of over 1,000 cows for dairies and 15,000 tons of eligible
