Nancy asks…
ovulation test?
I did an ovulation test yesterday which show i was ovulation. But people also say to watch
your discharge to see when youre ovulation. mine is not the egg white type that you say to
watch for. its not much at the moment. was the test right? As im getting my IBSymdol under
control its hard for me to say if im getting the cramps that happen when an egg is released.
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:
Not every woman gets exactly the ideal type of cervical mucous at the time of ovulation. I clearly
ovulated in all my cycles before I got pregnant, but I never had eggwhite mucous. I say trust the
ovulation predictor kit, and keep having intercourse until it comes up negative. That’s how I got
pregnant, and like I said, I never had the “right” mucous. If I had relied on that, I’d still be
frustrated, wondering why I didn’t conceive.

2. Ruth asks…
Ovulation test?
I took a Ovulation test today and saw a very faded line. I know it has to be darker to be
positive. So I was wondering since there was a faint line does it mean I am on my way to
ovulating soon?
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:
You need check temperature

3. I have just took my first ovulation test today, since i have a 31 day cycle it told me to start
testing today (day 14 of my period) i am using clearblue test. I was wondering why there is only
one line and its light, and not as shown on box. can someone let me know whats up? i used the
test correctly and in fact did two just to make sure. same thing happened. is this normal?
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:
There are good and bad reports from those using the clear blue products. Are you using just the
ovulation predictor, or the fertility monitor?
I would not worry about the presence of only one line, and the darkness of that line. What the
test does is measure the level of luteinizing hormone (LH) in your urine. If you have a 31 day
cycle, chances are you won’t ovulate for several more days. You likely will not start seeing a
second line for another couple of days. Even then, wait until the second line is AT LEAST as
dark as the control line. When that happens, you are likely to ovulate within the next 12 – 48
hours.
If you are not already doing so, you should also be keeping track of your basal body
temperature (BBT), cervical mucous (CM), and cervical position (CP). There are a couple of
really great programs to help you with that. One is at http://www.fertilityfriend.com – everything
is done online; you don’t have to download any type of program. One disadvantage – the best
features of the program are only available with a paid membership. A regular membership is
free, and includes 30 days of a VIP membership. After that 30 days is up, you have to pay for a
membership to continue the extra “VIP” features.
Another program that is really good is Ovusoft. It works using the Fertility Awareness Method of
tracking ovulation/conception chances; and is best used with the book “Taking Charge of Your
Fertility.” This is a program you must download to your computer and comes with only 15 free
days. Registration/purchase of this program costs about $40.

5. How long does an ovulation test work for?
I took an ovulation test last night (I have been taking them daily – yesterday morning it was
negative) and it showed that I was ovulating. So my husband and I did the ‘deed’. This
morning I took another ovulation test and it was negative.
If I did get pregnant last night, would the ovulation test still show that I am ovulating or would it
show negative?
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:
You don’t actually ovulate until 12-24 hours AFTER your positive opk. Keep doing the deed and
testing to cover your bases.
Lizzie asks…
Will an ovulation test give a positive result if you are pregnant?
I have been doing the ovulation tests for about 2 weeks now and the last 5 days (including
today) said that I am ovulating. The FAQ’s doesn’t answer this question it only says that if you
are pregnant it can affect the results. I don’t understand why the test would say positive for 5
days. I know you don’t ovulate for that many days.
