  2. 2. What is a Mandala? <ul><li>meaning “circle,” circular painting </li></ul><ul><li>These artworks are created using brightly colored geometric designs </li></ul><ul><li>traditionally created as sand paintings. </li></ul>

Why are Mandalas made? <ul><li>It is a sacred painting that symbolizes the spirituality of the universe. </li></ul><ul><li>In many different countries people create Mandalas as part of making a wish or prayer. </li></ul><ul><li>Some doctors have patients make mandalas to help them express feelings and for self discovery. </li></ul>

  15. 15. Steps <ul><li>Use the 4x4 piece of paper I gave you. Fold it in half vertically and then fold it in half horizontally. Locate the center point and fold to create a triangle. </li></ul><ul><li>On the triangle, draw your name in a creative way taking up as much of the space in the triangle as possible. </li></ul><ul><li>Unfold the paper. Outline your name with thin sharpie. </li></ul><ul><li>Line up your name with an empty triangle; trace your name again with pencil using a light box or window. </li></ul><ul><li>Repeat step 4 until all triangles have your name coming from the center point. When you have finished your design, outline all pencil lines using sharpie. </li></ul><ul><li>Next, use brightly colored markers to color in your design. Color each letter one color. For example: All of the M’s would be purple, all of the C’s would be green. </li></ul><ul><li>After have colored the letters, choose a color that makes your name stand out. Use this color for the background. </li></ul><ul><li>Lastly, glue your finished name tag onto the front of your sketchbook. </li></ul>
