 Prepositions are short words (on, in, to)
that usually stand in front of nouns
(sometimes also in front of gerund verbs).
 Even advanced learners of English find
prepositions difficult, as a 1:1 translation is
usually not possible. One preposition in
your native language might have several
translations depending on the situation.
 There are hardly any rule as to when
to use which preposition. The only
way to learn prepositions is looking
them up in a dictionary, reading a lot
in English (literature) and learning
useful phrases off by heart.
 Prepositions are used for denoting
three things.
 1. Time denoting prepositions
 2. Place denoting prepositions &
 3. prepositions denoting Other uses.
 Three Types :
 1. Place denoting prepositions – on, in,
inside, of, out of, off, inward, outward,
beneath, around, at, below, under, among,
surround, over, above, onto, into,
through, up, down, within, beside, next to,
in front of, along, near, opposite, etc.
 2. Time denoting prepositions – now, then,
after, before, previous, next, etc.
 3. Prepositions of other usages
