  2. 2. ResearchObjects overview • Semanticaggregationsof relatedscientificresources, theirannotations and researchcontext. • Enable referringa bundleof researchartifacts supporting an investigation • Providemechanismsto associatehuman and machine-readablemetadatato theseartifacts. • RO model1 enablesto capture and describetheseobjects, theirprovenance and lifecycle Research Object ResourceResourceResource AnnotationAnnotationAnnotation oa:hasTarget oa:hasBody ore:aggregates Manifest Annotation graph1 http://wf4ever.github.io/ro/index.html
  3. 3. ROHub • Enables the sharing of scientific findings via Research Objects (ROs) • Support scientists throughout the research lifecycle to create and maintain high-qualityROs that can be interpreted and reproducedin thefuture. • Combination of digital libraries, long term-preservation and semantic technologies. • ROHub comprises a backendexposing a set of RESTful APIs and a SPARQLendpoint, and a frontend Web Portal providing a graphical userinterface. RO storage, lifecyclemanagement and preservation
  4. 4. • ROHub backend is composed of – access components, – long-term preservation components and – controller that manages the flow ofdata. • ROs arestored in the access repositoryonce created, and periodicallythe new and/or modified ROs are pushed tothe long-term preservation repository. • The storage backend can be based on dLibra1,orit can use a built-in module for storing ROs directly in the filesystem. • The long-term preservation components is based on dArceo2 RO storage, lifecyclemanagement and preservation 1 http://dingo.psnc.pl/dlibra/ 2 http://dingo.psnc.pl/darceo/
  5. 5. Key Features Create, manage and share ROs 5 ROHubprovidesdifferentmethodsforcreatingROsanddifferentaccessmodestoshare them: open, public orprivate
  6. 6. Key Features Finding ROs 6 ROHubprovidesa facetedsearchinterface,in additiontoa keywordsearch box
  7. 7. Key Features Assessing RO Quality 7 Inthe Overview panel, ROHub shows a progress bar of the ROqualitybased on set of predefined basic ROrequirements. Additional quality information can bevisualized inthe Quality panel.
  8. 8. Key Features Managing RO Evolution Userscan createROsnapshotsatanypointin time, andreleaseandpreservetheROwhenthe researchhasconcluded.Userscanvisualizethe evolutionof theROfromthe Historypanel ROHub calculates and saves the changes between consecutive snapshots

  11. 11. Key Features Monitoring ROs ROHub includes monitoring features, suchasfixity checking and RO quality, whichgenerate notificationswhenchanges aredetected (e.g., workflow decay). Users canvisualizethis information in theNotification panel andtheycansubscribe totheatomfeed.
