The total length of all UHV transmission lines adds up to 35,000 kilometers. with a trans- regional power transmission capacity of 150 GW UHV projects in operation and under construction in China 4 UHV Grids in China
  5. 5. 5 Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed discussions on establishing Global Energy Interconnection (GEI), to facilitate efforts to meet global power demands with clean and green alternatives at the UN Sustainable Development Summit. Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed to seize opportunities presented by new round of the change in energy mix and the revolution in energy technologies to develop global energy interconnection and achieve green & low- carbon development at the Belt and Road Summit.   6. 6. 6 GEI = “Smart Grid + UHV Grid + Clean Energy”.Formal Definition : GEI is globally interconnected strong and smart grid with UHV grid as the backbone, an infrastructure platform on which clean energy can be developed, transmitted and used massively worldwide. Definition of GEI – GEIDCO ‘s View GEI Equation and Model Easy to Understand: GEI a power interconnectivity grid that mainly transfer clean energy by utilizing UHV and Smart Grid technology. GEI is focus on the clean energy promoting and transfer clean energy to far way. Clean Energy transferring is the target UHV Grid is the key technology to transfer Smart Grid is the basis to utilize Clean Energy Roadmap to achieve GEI Now 2020 2030 2050 Stage 1 Domestic Interconnection Stage 2 Intra-continental Interconnection Stage 3 Intercontinental Interconnection  Facilitate efforts to develop consensus and conduct research on technologies and standards;  Strengthen intra-country interconnection and the building of smart grids;  Develop clean energy in within country.  Enhance cross-border power grid cross-border;  Promote the development of clean energy bases.  Promote the construction of UHV grids;  Promote the development of energy bases energy intensive regions;  Complete basic global energy interconnection. GEI can be divided into three phases, but the first step before first stage is to get everyone's consensus about the importance of GEI.   14. 14. 14 China-Myanmar-Bangladesh Interconnection Bangladesh is one of the most power- hungry countries. The project proposal has been submitted to governments, and the governments attach great importance to this project. The three sides are planning to establish a joint working group from China Myanmar and Bangladesh to conduct the feasibility research.
  15. 15.  Mar 30 2016, a MOU of Joint Promotion of An Interconnected Electric Power Grid Spanning Northeast Asia was signed and concluded by GEIDCO, State Grid Co. of China, Korea Electric Power Co., Japan’s SoftBank Group, and ROSSETI of Russia.  The Pilot Project: China-Korea-Japan Interconnection  Transmit 2 GW electric power from China to Japan through Korea in phase one.  A joint workgroup has been established and the pre-feasibility study for the pilot project has been finished. 15 Northeast Asia Grid Interconnection
  16. 16. 3.Cooperation Field—project promotion Northeast Asia Grid interconnection Project  On December 13, 2017, GEIDCO signed a MoA for China-Korea Grid Interconnection project with SGCC and KEPCO on China-Korea Business Forum held during President Moon Jae-in’s visit in China.  By signing this MoA, China-Korea Power Grid Interconnection was announced commencement.

  19. 19. 19 UN High-level Symposium on Nov. 1st Energy is the golden thread that connects all the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), said by UN Secretary-General António Guterres during the symposium. GEI has been incorporated into the UN framework, which was reported by the major medias worldwide. International community has built extensive consensus on GEI. On Nov. 1st, 2017, UN DESA and GEIDCO jointly organized a high-level symposium at UN Headquarters. Global Energy Interconnection Action for promoting Agenda 2030 is released. 10 actions and 5 mechanisms are proposed to advance the 17 UN sustainable development goals.
