over time or else will result in overweight and
obesity due to too much calories intake.
What is Energy IN and Energy OUT??
• Energy IN = amount of energy / calories we get
from food and drinks
• Energy OUT = amount of energy our body use for
physical activities

1. Parents as role model.
• Change family eating habits and encourage physical
activity (reduce “screen” time)
• Eat healthy foods and participate in physical
activities (set an example so that children will do
the same)
• Encourage children to eat only when hungry
• Avoid using foods as a reward
2. Keep the refrigerator stocked with fat-free or
low-fat foods, fruits and vegetables, instead of soft
drinks and snacks.

3. Consume more fresh fruits and vegetables, at
least 5 servings daily
4. Choose whole grain foods, such as brown rice and
whole wheat bread
