Este documento explica las diferencias entre las expresiones "how many", "how much" y "how much does it cost" en inglés. "How many" se usa con sustantivos contables en plural, "how much" con sustantivos no contables y "how much does it cost" o "how much is" para preguntar por el precio de algo.
2. How many...?
Se traduce por “¿cuántos/as?”.
Siempre en oraciones interrogativas.
Se usa delante de un sustantivo contable plural.
El verbo va en plural.
Ej: How many books are there? (¿Cuántos libros hay?)
3. How much...?
Se traduce por “¿cuánto/a?”.
Siempre en oraciones interrogativas.
Se usa delante de un sustantivo incontable.
El verbo va en singular.
Ej: How much water is there in the bottle?
(¿Cuánta agua hay en la botella?)
4. ¿cuánto cuesta?
Podemos usar dos expresiones para preguntar por el precio
de algo:
1. “how much is …?”
Ej: How much is this book? (¿Cuánto vale este libro?)
2. “how much does.... cost?
Ej: How much does this book cost? (¿Cuánto vale este libro?)
