2. Th e Saronic Gulf ( Greek : Σαρωνικός κόλπος, Saronikós kólpos ) or Gulf of Aegina in Greece forms part of the Aegean Sea and defines the eastern side of the isthmus of Corinth
3. The origin of the name comes from the mythological king Saron who drowned at the Psifaei lake (modern ). The Saronic Gulf was a string of six entrances to the Underworld , each guarded by a chthonic enemy in the shapes of thieves and bandits.
4. Residents of Athens go for swimming in the nearby beaches during summer, as they are close to the centre of Athens. These beaches take the blue flag every year, this means that they are clean and suitable for swimming.
5. However, we don’t really believe that it is so clean as two flumes go into the sea, close to Alimos region. And the water from the flumes is not so clean…
6. During a visit in the beach some days ago, we noticed that there were some rubbish in the beach that are possible to end up in the sea..
7. A part of the beach is a marine for yachts and boats…So in the sea you can see oil in the surface
8. There is a special container where they put oil extracts from the yachts. But is this enough?
9. We are really very worried. We want a clean sea and nice beaches. We don’t want rubbish. But it’s up to us, Don’t you think so???? This????? Or That?????
