1. All Summer In A Day Essay
All Summer In A Day The short story "All Summer In A Day" by Ray Bradbury describes how in
planet Venus there is rain non–stop and the sun only comes out once in a day every seven years.
Margot used to live on planet Earth, so she has felt and seen the sun before. The students "hated her
pale snow face, her waiting silence, her thinness, and her possible future." (Bradbury, 1954). To
begin, the author uses craft moves to show the theme to show how Margot's classmates were
jealous. Using descriptive words, Bradbury gives a clear visual of the events of the children bullying
Margot. The author uses similes to describe sun. "It's like a fire, in the stove." The jealousy of the
children on Venus caused them to treat Margot poorly; this is shown...show more content...
Some examples are: "'Speak when you're spoken to.' He gave her a shove." "'Get away!' The boy
gave her another push." "All a joke!' said the boy, and seized her roughly." Harassment is when
someone wrongly annoying, offensive, and troubling behavior. Margot's classmates shoved,
pushed, and roughly seized her. This shows that jealousy can lead to people hurting the person
they are jealous of. When harassing Margot, they also said mean things to her and rejected her
beliefs. They have done this countless times. "'No it's not!' the children cried." "'You're lying,
you don't remember!' cried the children." "Nothing! It was all a joke, wasn't it?'" "'Nothing's
happening today. Is it?" "'Nothing, nothing!'" "'All a joke'" When Margot describes the sun,
everyone thinks she is lying. They do not want to admit that she knows how to sun looks and
feels like. Since Margot's classmates are jealous of her experiences, they do not want to believe
her descriptions of the sun. Soon, jealousy lead to locking Margot in a closet. "'Hey, everyone, let's
put her in a closet before the teacher comes!'" When being jealous, one could act like someone they
are not.
Together, all these scenes showed that jealousy of another can lead to harassment, saying mean
things, and bullying. The author

2. I Was Born On A Rainy Day
I was born on a rainy day on April 29, 1996 to a young and good looking Mexican couple, in a
hospital in busy Downtown Los Angeles. I grew up in a small cul–de–sac located in East Los
Angeles and lived in a newly constructed two story, three bedroom home. The house was one
block away from the local park, which was visible from my bedroom. At the age of five I moved
from my home in East Los Angeles to South Gate which was located south of Los Angeles. When
I turned five years old I moved to a new home, I realized the house was in a peaceful, clean, and
crimeless area than where I used to live, but the house was an old looking house that was built in
the 1950s. The house wasn't a two story house but just one floor. Inside of the home was full of
old and dirty carpet, the carpet was extended to all the rooms and some of the carpet had mold
like stains on it. There were only two rooms inside and I was forced to share a bedroom with my
parents. The backyard of the home was full of dirt, lizards, cockroaches, and other insects.
Overall, the home was worse than the one we used to own but it was located in a wonderful
neighborhood full of delightful neighbors, a lot of trees and peace. The first day in our new home
was a disaster. Cockroaches came out of the walls, toilet, through doors, and electrical sockets. The
second day I asked my parents why we moved from a nice house to a horrible house, my mom then
turned to me with a big smile and told me, "it's for the best, trust me." I

3. Gustave Caillebotte's Paris Street; Rainy Day
The first thing that strikes me is the size of the work. About seven feet tall and nine feet wide, this
painting dominates its gallery and overwhelms the viewer. The couple in the foreground of the
painting is nearly life size, and with the man poised to take another step it seems he might climb
right over the frame and walk right into the gallery. The bold perspective thrusts the scene outward,
and with details such as the sharply receding roofline of the main building and the acute tilt of the
street, geometric and visual effects are created which push and pull the viewer and instill the painting
with action.
This work is more complex and detailed then one might first imagine,...show more content...
He tilts his umbrella to the right so as to avoid collision with the couple who neither pay him
attention nor show any signs of tilting their umbrella in deference. A green (a color which stands
out) gas lamp separates these three from the rest of the painting, and also divides the canvas in
half. A little further back a lone man is crossing the street, looking down in a manner which
suggests inward thinking but also illustrates the reality of the wet and mucky road on which one
must watch their step. The rest of the figures receive less influence, but a few of them are certainly
worth noting. Directly to the left of the protagonist's head two women walk away from the viewer.
Their symmetry is visually enticing. Also, above the wagon wheel on the left side of the painting a
man is crossing the street. He piqued my attention because of the odd position of his body and feet –
it looks as if he is almost doing a jig. Lastly, one might note how the front couple's umbrella pole
occludes a woman's head in the background; she in turn holds an umbrella that obscures the head of
a workman with ladder behind her; a curious compositional detail to say the least.
The surface of the painting is characterized mostly by relatively broad painterly brushstrokes which
in that singularly impressionistic manner allow the "stuff" of paint to really show. Even though the
picture appears much more finished and

4. Descriptive Essay On Rain
It's cool and dark outside of the car as we drive, dark clouds hovering over the plains as fat, heavy
drops of water fall from the full clouds. The lights of cars and streetlights and cars blur with the
flow of water on the side windows, our speed not fast enough to force the drops to flow back
along the windows. It's not until we start on the highway and the water starts to move that I find
my objects of interest in front of me in the form of the rain and the memories of my childhood
that surface with them. The rain on the windshield was and still is pleasant to watch. The way the
drops clump together and make small rivers that travel up the window before being slashed at by
the windshield wiper. It's calming to watch the water move as it wants, making new trails as the
wind fights to push the raindrops upwards. It reminds me of a sort of game I used to play when I
was little and watched the rain run across the windows. I used to always imagine that the rain that
gathered at the bottom of the window near the wiper motors where all the little water people that
needed to get away because they were trapped there unless they could collect into a big fat drop
that could carry them out of reach of the wipers when it went by. I always imagined that they
were escaping to little space pods that would bring them to the outer edge of the window that I
considered to be outer space where it was safe, and the side windows as the paths they had to take
to get home. When I was young this little game would entertain me on long car rides. I was never
fond of the windshield wipers. The way the black arms would come to push away all the escaping
water, cutting off the paths of the little droplets and flinging some away while shoving the rest back
into the bottom of the window. As a child, it made me frustrated that it would always ruin the
departure of the make–believe escape pods. I hated the sound the wipers would occasionally make
when the window was too dry to give it a slick path to slide over. It was also ugly and reminded
me of some sort of weird arm that was devoid of muscle or flesh, much like a skeleton which was
fitting. The windshield wiper represented death and failure of the hopeful, little traveling droplets;

5. Short Story: When it Rains
Prologue: When the clouds are gray, moves overheard and birds stop singing, flying quite low; The
ground smells emit, as the temperature's high contrasting the pressure. Then,It only foretells that
rain is coming. And when it does, people usually look out of the window panes to witness the
million raindrops that fall out of the sky. Breathing heavily, as the memories of sadness comes back
to life. That you almost wish to bury everything in a shroud of oblivion. Along with it, is the
coldness humidity that makes you want to wrap your arms protectively around yourselves just to
keep the icy ominous skin, warm or rather to block out any sad thoughts that taunt to trespass the
arms engulfing your writhe bodies. There are also times, every so often, due to too much sadness
you endure inside that you also want to shed bitter tears and join the heaven in it's grief–stricken
moment. Although not everyone sees rain negatively similar to what I aforesaid. Especially, for
someone I knew the most. Owning to the fact that she conceptualizes rain in the different manner.
However, that the reason behind this isn't because it gives me an overwhelming feeling that wash
away the pain of yesterday nor does she loves on falling asleep in the sound of the rain. I still
remember every moments perfectly, and I don't think I neither she would forget that phenomenal
moments ever. Chapter 1 The scene back then was almost the same scene up–to–date for Monroe's

6. My mother taught me at an early age the importance of saving money for a rainy day and for my
future. For my family in Guatemala economic security came by the amount of crops that were
produced by my grandfather's farm. My grandfather was not able to do the work himself. He
depended on my mother and her nine sisters to prepare for the harvest. It is for this reason that
schools in Guatemala offer their school break during harvest because they were aware of this need.
However, farming takes a great amount of time and effort. My mother was only able to finish
fourth grade because my grandfather needed her help. My grandfather wanted to make sure that his
daughters knew how to do the work in case he got sick or died. I am sharing this story to prove that
regardless of culture and nationality people are looking for ways to find economic security. Different
cultures might do something completely different than my family in Guatemala. For the United
States of America Social Security was a way to provide economic security to his citizens. This paper
will discuss the history, evolvement, changes in the policy, strengths and weakness of the program.
When the colonists first arrived to the United States they brought with them many of the ideology
from England. The Poor Law of 1601 inspired them to have local taxation to support the poor. It
was during a severe economic depression that England adopted the Poor Law of 1601. The main
goal of the law was to maintain social stability,

I can smell the rain on my jacket as my fingers numbly make their way across the pad, trying their
best to capture an instant in time on a piece of yellow, college–ruled, notebook paper, despite my
now apparent lack of artistic ability. As I am watching the scene unfold, I hardly notice the people
walking around me, gazing at the same thing I am, before they move on. Cuddling under an
umbrella, a man and his wife are casually strolling through the light fog. Their attention is caught by
something off to their right, so he does not notice when his top hat is almost bumped to one side by
the umbrella as another pedestrian tries to pass on the narrow sidewalk. Further off in the...show

The buildings are just far enough away and draped in a delicate fog that their details remain slightly
imperceptible. But in retrospect, this entire painting lacks any distinct quality, yet possesses a
magical ability to draw one into the scene and envelope them in the mystery and serenity of that
Parisian evening.
I am certain that while I was sketching the work, I became an obstacle for many of the other patrons
of the Art Institute, which is one of the reasons I sat down. But from this vantage point I had the
opportunity to marvel at the grand scope of this composition. Gustave Calliebotte's Paris Street;
Rainy Day has the peculiar ability to exist in duality. Standing close to the canvas, I could feel
myself pulled into the scene that took place over 120 years ago. I could feel the dampness in my
hair and smell the rain on my clothes, although I must attribute at least part of that to the rainy
Chicago weather I encountered before entering the museum. From a closer perspective, the life–size
characters effectively contribute to the realism of the piece. The immense size of the painting itself
helps to incorporate the viewer into the scene. Being close, it feels as though this Parisian intersection
could wrap around you, and standing there I would not be terribly surprised if I turned around to see
nothing but the rest of the street, continuing through the brick–laden

8. Narrative Essay About A Rainy Day
So when do i get?" questioned Jacob."I have it," I replied. It was a dark cloudy rainy day on friday
many people say Friday is a good day but not for me. We were on the four step stage at delta vista
middle school when he questioned me.
I was too nice back then,i couldn't say no to my best friend Jacob. It was my pearl white samsung
galaxy s4 which wasn't that old back then in sixth grade. Jacob made me feel bad that he doesn't
have a phone, I was extremely heart broken that I interrupted and said "I have a phone that i don't
use anymore." I didn't realize what I had just done. He started asking me everyday "did you bring
it?" I replied "No".
I woke up out of a deep sleep on a Friday at 6:30 AM, the window was creaked open and there was
a slight soft breeze. I went to the sink, which is only 18 steps away from my bed, i open the door
and it was a mess, the sink had drops of toothpaste hanging. I washed my face with my foam face
wash it felt light as a feather in my hand as I rubbed around my face. I heard the notification
ringtone go on and then i imagined jacob a chubby white boy with green eyes and a hair that was
curly on the top but not on the edges. I look straight to the phone and read in my mind "it's time to
go" then i go ahead and finish up at the sink by brushing my teeth. I walked back to my drawer
mumbling "what did i do,what did i do?" I go ahead and wear my black pants with my grey shirt
and then over that i throw on a grey sweater.
I walked up to my phone, laying near my dark brown wooden bunk bed. I unplugged the charger
and my phone and then i turned it over and popped out the back and took out the battery so it
doesn't turn on, on accident. After that i stuffed it into my messy backpack with crumpled paper
everywhere so that way if anybody wants to go in my bag they would think that oh it's just filled
with junk. I went downstairs to grab a gogurt XL and some water because whenever i would wake
up i would be parched. After that I just wasted my time by doing absolutely nothing all i did is just sit
in my bed and relax. Not to mention I will have to hop on my ocean dark blue bmx bike and head to
school.
I got to school and locked up my bike at the bike rack, I head into the cafeteria

9. A Paris Street, Rainy Day
April showers bring May flowers or, in Caillebotte's case, the Impressionist piece A Paris Street,
Rainy Day (1877). Downcast faces stare into the puddles while umbrellas shield figures from not the
rain, but each other. Caillebotte's painting captures French author Baudelaire's concept of the
ephemeral modernity with his subjects, their minute interactions, and a complex composition style
that moves the viewer's eyes and heart. Impressionists and Baudelaire had similar views on what
they wanted the modern painter to achieve. "By 'modernity' I mean the ephemeral, the fugitive, the
contingent, the half of art whose other half is the eternal and the immutable."(Baudelaire FYP
Handbook 67) writes Baudelaire as he whims on the artist's goal––...show more content...
Looming larger than life, Caillebotte has employed a slight fish–eye perspective to increase the
grandeur of the apartments. Their strong, solid lines impend over the dwarfed passer–by's figures;
they appear small, like Paris got 'cleaner' but more consuming. Contrary to the ephemeral aspect of
modernity for Baudelaire, scaffolding on one of the buildings suggests that more 'improvements' are
to take place, that there will be a continual change, and, therefore, a persisting tone. The structure of
the apartments and their perspective displays both modern and ancient

10. How Does The Speaker Use Imagery In The Rainy Day
A booming echo of thunder bellows in the distance as the rain hurls upon the earth with no intent of
ceasing, demolishing what would have been a gorgeous sunny day. Abruptly, the precipitation
pauses, the sun glows upon the land, and the harmonious chirps of birds fill the air. In Henry
Wadsworth Longfellow's poem "The Rainy Day," he depicts the immediate and long term effects of
enduring hardships on the mind. Misfortunes are an inescapable element of the life of any
individual. Symbolism and imagery convey the speaker's initial mindset that life will always remain
dull and gloomy. For example, what begins as a sorrowful day transitions into the speaker's whole
life, which he describes as "cold, and dark, and dreary," (7). Addressing the entirety of life in this
manner identifies immense emotional unrest. This negative mindset influences the belief that there
are no moments to cherish in life. In addition, the speaker discusses his unsettling thoughts that

shining," (12). The sun is a symbol for better days and more positive instances yet to come. These
pleasurable moments are masked by symbolic clouds that represent the complications that make life
seem dreary. This demonstrates the understanding that pain and discomfort are provisional.
Moreover, the speaker continues to explain his belief that, "Into each life some rain must fall,
/ Some days must be dark and dreary," (14). The rain represents hardships and unpleasant days,
which are now understood to be inevitable. Instead of fretting over these obstacles, the speaker
learns to accept this fate. As the turmoil begins to cease and a wave of content commences, the
speaker realizes that bad days are unavoidable, but they do not last

11. Literary Analysis: The Rainy Day by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow– Siddiqui
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's "Rainy Day" uses the themes of lost and renewed hope, youth and
grief to show how much our past and future experiences affect our lives and how though we face
multiple struggles in life we can overcome them. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was born February
28th, 1807 and died March 24th, 1882. He was inspired to write poetry from Romanticism. Not only
did he accomplish writing many pieces of poetry he was also a novelist. He wrote "The Rainy Day"
in 1841 and wrote it in memory of his wife who had passed away in front of his eyes. Longfellow's
poems are mostly long but this was one of his few short poems. "The Rainy Day" was popular for

Others also agree with this thought for example, "So, instead of lamenting about it the whole life,
one must learn to overcome his distress and proceed with his life." (Poems). This quote also agrees
with the idea of renewed hope because as stated we must overcome our challenges which we do
through having a sense of renewed hope. This agrees with the conclusive fact that we all face
challenges in life that we must overcome and are given the strength to overcome through hope.
There is always a time in our life when we realize that those days are gone. The days to go out and
play, those days of innocence and happiness, those days when we were shielded from the real
world. As we grow older and wiser and gain more experiences we come to face the fact that not
everything is rainbows and sunshine. We begin to see that life is but a mere road with an
excessive amount of bumps that we trip over. Some bumps may be larger than others but in the
end we must all get up and move on and in these times the memories of our lost youth are painful
to bear, yet at the same time the memories are sometimes hard to let go of. Henry Wadsworth
Longfellow displays this idea through his poem "The Rainy Day" trying to express the ghosts of his
past. "My thoughts still cling to the mouldering Past, / But the hopes of youth fall thick in the blast,"
(8–9). Through these lines

One Windy Day
Up above, there is a sky so blue, that one color cannot describe it. Below, tree stumps rise up, the
branches reaching out and feeling the wind with their leaves. The leaves are full of warm reds,
yellows and oranges underneath the blue sky, hoping to reach out and fly away to explore with
the other leaves. But when they fly away, the rush of wind only lasts for seconds and they drop on
the cold wet ground. And when they drop on the ground, they want the wind to blow them back
onto their branch. But when the wind obeys and picks them up, they only fall farther away from
the tree, down a hill and onto a girl and a dog that lies close to her. A big yellowschool bus rumbles

Farrah unwillingly, steps on the bus with Belle jump up the steps behind her. They filed back to the
last seat. The kids on the bus seemed a little stronger, a little louder and, a little bigger. She plugged

that formed hexagons and circles, spinning them in endless circles. At one point, staring out the
window, she could see the shabby ranch building that she would now call home. Around thirty
minutes later the bus pulled into a roundabout In Front of a school and the bus driver yelled "get off

One cold wet afternoon in early November, the fog was so thick I felt a though I could reach out
and grab it. It had been bright sunshine when we walked into that forest. Or should I say when
we were chased into it. Earlier that morning it felt as though it would be just another ordinary
Saturday. The birds were singing, the tractors were ploughing, but little did I know that at that
point, this was no regular day for what was to come on the sunny day was very irregular indeed.
Later on I decided to ring ben and see if he wanted to go on a walk together in the countryside.
After about ten minutes we set of together through the fields and down the country lanes. All of a
sudden ben stopped in the middle of the road and asked me if I had seen the forest ahead of us
before. Confused I said no and we started up again and carried on with our walk. Out of nowhere a
bull jumped out the hedgerow a chased ben and I towards the forest walls. We ran in and hid behind
some trees close so to the edge. The bull seemed to know that we were there but didn't seem to
want to go into the forest. Ben moved his head signalling that we should find a way out of the
forest I nodded and came out of where I was hiding I turned and saw the bull staring at me but he
didn't move I suddenly noticed that the fog around us was growing thicker and I could no longer
see ben in front of me. I shouted for him but no reply. Suddenly I fell and heard a cry of which I
thought sounded like ben I turned and

15. It was a warm and colorful fall day. I was a happy eight year old planning on enjoying this
beautiful Saturday. I woke up to the smell of bacon, eggs, and pancakes cooking down stairs. I ran
downstairs as fast I could. Not surprising, I saw my mom making fluffy pancakes I was starving

still more to do after that, Alexa!" As I was vacuuming the stairs, my friend Vanessa called me. She

But I have to do some chores first!" I puttered over to my mom and told her that Vanessa had

rest of my chores done! So, I dusted the piano, washed the dog, and emptied the dishwasher.
Finally, after about an hour, I finished my chores! My mom drove me and my sister over to
Vanessa's house. Vanessa lives thirty minutes away, thus the whole car ride I was filled with

Stepping outside, I instantly notice the fresh, wet scent of earth. As I continue walking, I willingly

every movement I make. The numbing effect of the icy downpour is finally setting in. Fierce

As a person lets the cool rain wash over them, a feeling of renewal and cleanliness is created.
Depression rates skyrocket during the dark and dreary seasons. This condition is known as Seasonal
Affective Disorder. About 5–percent of adults in the United States live with this condition. The loss
of sunlight and increase of poor weather – snow, rain, wind– contribute to the severity of the
disorder. During the fall and winter months, it often rains. This is one contributing factor to SAD.
Although rain can be light and happy, it can also be extremely harsh. Thunderstorms are often
present during heavy rainstorms. The electric flashes of light bring about nothing but fear; the
pounding rain only intensifies the storm. It is easy to see why the mere sight of rain depresses
some people. When rain is mentioned, I think of light ecstatic sprinkling. However, because of
the different experiences each individual has, the opposite conclusion could be made. Rain drops
strongly resemble teardrops. Because of this astounding resemblance, a connection between sad
teardrops and rain is made. During a rain storm, the sky is not clear and blue; it is murky and gray.
Colors have feelings associated with them. Blue is happy and bubbly while gray is sad and dull. A
depressed person will take a quick look at the rain and jump back in their beds.

17. Who Is Victor Frankenstein's Downfall
Approached with the task to create a ghost story on a rainy day by Lord Byron and her husband,
Mary Shelley ran with her original task as she later wrote Frankenstein, a gothic novel about the
Swiss scientist Victor Frankenstein and how his life spiralled out of control. Victor Frankenstein
grew up in an ideal household, filled with unconditional love from his parents and betrothed–wife
Elizabeth, but Victor always seemed to want more. Reading the work of Cornelius Agrippa began a
crazed pursuit of knowledge in Victor, and through Victor's obsessive nature, his life was forever
changed. Entering the University of Ingolstadt after his mother's death, Victor's studies led him to a
gruesome project. Grave digging and body snatching enabled Victor to bring the wretched eight–foot
monster into the world, and from that moment on, his life was forever cursed. Prometheus, the Greek
hero and son of Iapetus, lived a courageous life under the power of Zeus, and set the stage for Mary
Shelley to create her infamous character of VictorFrankenstein. As Victor created the horrid
eight–foot creature, Prometheus stole the creation of fire from Zeus, and gave it to mankind without
Zeus' approval, to improve their overall wellbeing. Through Victor Frankenstein 's horrible decisions
and his inability to accept his own limits, Frankenstein, symbolizes that Victor Frankenstein is "The
Modern Prometheus" because both Victor and Prometheus brought new creations into the world and

18. Persuasive Essay On Saving Money
Saving money is an important part of your financial health. The more you save, the more you can
feel at ease whenever a rainy day might hit. You cannot predict the future but you can prepare for
it. If you prepare now, your future self will thank you. But how can you save if you have so many
bills and only one stream of income? Here are some tips you can use to rack up that account with a
single income.
Try to make a budget, it will be your blueprint for your finances. The first step for anyone wanting
to take control of their finances is to make a budget. A budget will allow you to understand where
your money is going and enable you to adjust your spending by designating how much you can
afford. Creating a budget is a good idea for everyone, but especially for individuals with limited
income. Write down your budget, with specific categories of spending, and stick to it. Start slowly
by using a percentage on how much you will save versus spend. A plan doesn't work unless you
work the plan.
Do not live a life that you cannot handle, spend within your means. Be honest with yourself, if you
can't afford something, don't buy it! Affordability is much more than the amount of money in your
bank account, it also is how long it will take for the money you spent to be back in your account.
Think of your finances as a long term process, not a short term fix. This is also why you should limit
your credit card usage. If you rack up your credit card and lose your sole source of income,

All Summer in A Day by Ray Bradbury is about how a little jealousy can turn into rage and reveals
that children, along with adults, can be blinded by something so simple. The author of All
Summer in A Day believes jealousy and bullying are the key emotions played in this short story.
Bradbury claims that the main characters, Margot, is being bullied because she was Earth longer.
Whereas, the other students don't even remember Earth because of how early they all moved to
