Long term global fundraising chairman Sharon Stone and designer Marc Jacobs support amfAR
Inspiration Night Paris.
Following its highly successful annual Cinema Against AIDS fundraiser, which was held last
month at the Cannes Film Festival and raised just under $11 million, amfAR (The American
Foundation for AIDS Research) hosted a second French event, their Inspiration Night Paris 2012,
on 28th June at the iconic Parisian venue Maxims.
Attendees included Marc Jacobs who presided over the evening as Honorary Chair, amfAR
Global Fundraising Chairman Sharon Stone, hosting the event, Lee Radziwill, sister to the late
Jackie Kennedy, film director Sofia Coppola, actress Dita von Teese and Hollywood executive
producer Rebecca Wang, who said:

AIDS - an indiscriminate disease, which affects all, ages, races and cultures. There are more
than 33 million people fighting HIV/AIDS worldwide – a scale which demands action by all of us,
to educate others and to help to stem the spread. amfAR works tirelessly to raise awareness of
the disease itself, and is also world –renowned for its commitment to research of new treatments,
vaccines, clinical studies and equally to the role of prevention in combating the effects of AIDS”.
The Piaget Award of Inspiration was awarded to Robert Duffy, President of Marc Jacobs and Marc
Jacobs International, in recognition of the companies’ persistent and tireless work towards the
eradication of AIDS.
Sponsors for the evening were Rebecca Wang Entertainment, MAC Cosmetics and Piaget, while
the event was staged by Josh Wood Productions.
Launched in 2010, amfAR’s Inspiration Gala Series are held across leading cities world-wide and
focus on celebrating men’s fashion and style while also taking time to acknowledge and honour
those who have made an especial contribution in the fight against AIDS. They hold a well-
deserved reputation for being evenings which combine entertainment of dazzling creativity with
impressive fundraising for the organisation’s health and research programmes. To date
Inspiration Galas have been held in New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Sao Paolo, Rio de Janeiro,
Toronto and Miami.
These and other amfAR fund-raising events bring together A-list celebrities, socialites and
international public figures. High profile guests have included Bill Clinton, Giorgio Armani, George

Since it’s founding in 1985 amfAR has invested over $338 million into its programmes and
awarded over 3,300 grants to research teams worldwide.
