Applying the Ideas: Explore the World of E-Service
Website #1 GameStop
When you first enter GameStop’s Homepage you will notice that they have merchandise for almost any
platform. Also they list all the newest stuff and deals on a rotating display. On the top they have
hyperlinks to login, register, finding a store, Events, weekly ads, gift cards, and order history.
Unfortunately the FAQ and Customer Contact are all the way down at the bottom of the page and in
smaller format as if they don’t really want anyone to use them.
Under the find a store hyperlink you are presented with a Map of store in your area also a
list with store addresses, hours of operation, and telephone numbers. Although each store
does have its own e-mail and mobile address to contact them individually.
Under the Events and Weekly Ads hyperlinks you’re given the upcoming events such as new
game launches and special game tournaments. And a paper type advertisement of deals and
specials that week.
The Gift Card and Order History tabs allow you to buy gift cards and track any purchase you
may have made.
There is also a Wish list tab that will allow you to place games and accessory’s in a list in
which you want to buy at a later date.
This is a favorite website of mine due to my being a big geek. I love playing games on the computer and I
must stay informed of any new games that are out or coming soon. This website allows you to search for
games and check the reviews and videos of those games to make sure your purchases are valid. In
addition to all this there is an online link to hundreds of Free Games. So you can always have a new
game to play.
Website #2 TigerDirect
This website is a great place to search and buy almost anything electronic from Audio to Software and
much more. On the homepage you can select a general area of interest or contact their Customer
Service by phone or online chat to help navigate there site. The tabs on the homepage include My
Account, Catalog, Track my Order, Rebate, Wish list, Help, and Contact Us.
Under the help tab there is a list of what forms of payment they accept, shipping rates,
return policy, and help for most problems.
Under the Contact Us tab there is a 1-800 numbers for many departments, International,
and Spanish callers. Also their main location address, E-mail address, and a list of FAQ to see
if you need to e-mail them your problems.
2. I like this website for computer parts even though it is a small part of the products they sell. I have
bought parts to upgrade 8 different computers from this site and have had a couple of parts that were
bad. The Customer service department exchanged them with no problem, even giving me a refund on
the shipping cost for my problems.
Website #3 Newegg
Newegg is mostly dedicated to computers and accessories and has a very good selection. They have a
Help and Info tab on the homepage which give, I think, the most info of all the websites I have seen.
There is a FAQ area and an FAQ topics list which covers most questions and there is a FAQ search bar if
you still can’t find a question to your problem.
There are many General tabs on the homepage to help narrow down your searches to what
you’re looking for.
They have a hyperlink that will allow you to shop by brand names if you are looking for a
specific type of equipment for a certain manufacture.
Their Customer Service Area under Help has Live Chat, E-mail, Phone, and Regular Mail even
though their live chat is only open during certain hours of the day
Newegg has a very good selection of products and a somewhat liberal policy on returns. If you ordered
the wrong part, most of the time, they will refund or exchange it with the right part with little or no
problems.
