  24. 24. “Who Moved My Cheese?” “It’s not fair!!’ They spent a long time trying to decide what to do. They keep on looking to see if the cheese was really gone.

  29. 29. Hem analyzed “Why did they do this to me?”.“Why did they do this to me?”. Haw said, “By the way, where is Sniff and Scurry?“By the way, where is Sniff and Scurry? Do you think they know something we don’t?”Do you think they know something we don’t?”
  30. 30. Hem “What would they know? They’re just simple mice. They just respond to what happens. We are smarter than mice!”
  31. 31. “Maybe we need to change and do things differently.”
  32. 32. Why should we change? This sort of thing should not happen to us. If it does, we should get some benefits that we are entitled.
  33. 33. “WHY?”
  34. 34. “Because we didn’t cause this problem”
  35. 35. “I realized that no one will put yesterday’s cheese back”. “What if there is no cheese out there? And if there is, what if you don’t know where to find it?”
  36. 36. Haw laughed and announced “IT’S MAZE TIME!” but before he left, he wrote on the wall….
  37. 37. If You Do NotIf You Do Not Change, You CanChange, You Can Become ExtinctBecome Extinct
  38. 38. Meanwhile, Sniff & Scurry went farther into the maze until they found Cheese Station N. They found a great supply of New Cheese!
  39. 39. Then, Haw stuck his head out and peered anxiously into the maze. He thought about how he’d gotten himself into this cheeseless situation. He went to the maze very anxious.
  40. 40. What Would YouWhat Would You Do If You Weren’tDo If You Weren’t Afraid?Afraid?
  41. 41. When You Stop Being Afraid You Feel Good! • Haw was loosing his physical strength. • Maze was full of danger and yet he took it as an adventure. • He started to enjoy himself in the maze more and more.
  42. 42. When You Stop Being Afraid You Feel Good! “ Why do I feel so good?” he wondered. “I don’t have any cheese and I don’t know where I am going.” He realized he had held captive by his own fear.
  43. 43. Haw now realized that the change probably would not have taken him by surprise if he had been watching what was happening all along and if he had anticipated change. He stopped & wrote on the wall:
  44. 44. Smell The CheeseSmell The Cheese Often So You KnowOften So You Know When It Is GettingWhen It Is Getting Old.Old.
  45. 45. Haw wondered if Hem had moved on, or if he was still paralyzed by his own fears. Then, Haw remembered the times when he had felt his best in the Maze. It was when he was moving along. He wrote:
  46. 46. Movement In A NewMovement In A New Direction Helps YouDirection Helps You Find New Cheese.Find New Cheese.
  47. 47. As Haw started running down the dark corridor, he was letting go & trusting what lay ahead for him, even though he did not know exactly what it was. To his surprise, Haw started to enjoy himself more & more.
  48. 48. When You MoveWhen You Move Beyond Your Fear,Beyond Your Fear, You Feel Free. You Feel Free.
  49. 49. To make things better, Haw started to dream and paint a picture in his mind again. He saw himself sitting in a middle of a pile of all his favorite cheeses – from Cheddar to Brie! He wrote…
  50. 50. Imagining MyselfImagining Myself Enjoying NewEnjoying New Cheese, EvenCheese, Even Before I Find It,Before I Find It, Leads Me To It.Leads Me To It.
  51. 51. Sometimes later, Haw did not find any cheese, He even thought of turning around to Cheese Station C. He wrote on the wall, knowing it was as much a reminder to himself but also a marking for his friend Hem, hopefully….
  52. 52. The Quicker YouThe Quicker You Let Go Of OldLet Go Of Old Cheese, TheCheese, The Sooner you FindSooner you Find New Cheese.New Cheese.
  53. 53. Haw made his way back to Cheese Station C to offer Hem bits of New Cheese but was turned down. Hem wanted his own Cheese back.
  54. 54. Hem appreciated his friend’s gesture but said “I want my own Cheese back and I’m not going to change until I get what I want.”
  55. 55. It Is Safer ToIt Is Safer To Search In TheSearch In The Maze Than RemainMaze Than Remain In The CheeselessIn The Cheeseless Situation.Situation.
  56. 56. Haw realized again, that what you are afraid of is never as bad as what you imagine. The fear you let build up in your mind is worse than the situation that actually exists. He realizes it was natural for change to continually occur, whether you expect it or not.
  57. 57. Change could surprise you only if you didn’t expect it & weren’t looking for it. When he realized he had changed his beliefs, he paused to write on the wall:
  58. 58. Old Beliefs Do NotOld Beliefs Do Not Lead You To NewLead You To New Cheese.Cheese.
  59. 59. Haw now realized that his new beliefs were encouraging him to behave in a new way. He was behaving differently from the way he had when he had kept returning to the same cheeseless station. It all depends on what you choose to believe.
  60. 60. When You See ThatWhen You See That You Can Find AndYou Can Find And Enjoy New Cheese,Enjoy New Cheese, You ChangeYou Change Course.Course.
  61. 61. Haw just hoped he was heading in the right direction. He thought about the possibility that Hem would read The Handwriting On The Wall & find his way. He wrote on the wall what he had been thinking about for some time:
  62. 62. Noticing SmallNoticing Small Changes EarlyChanges Early Helps You AdaptHelps You Adapt To The BiggerTo The Bigger Changes That AreChanges That Are To Come.To Come.
  63. 63. Haw realized that change could lead to something better. He raced through the maze with greater strength and agility.
  64. 64. He proceeded along a corridor where he found New Station N where he saw the greatest supply of Cheese he had ever seen. Sniff & Scurry welcomed him. ““Hooray for Change!”Hooray for Change!”
  65. 65. He drew a large piece of cheese around all the insights he had become aware of….

  67. 67. Then, Haw heard sounds of movement. As the noise grew louder, he realized that someone is coming. Could it be that Hem was arriving?
  68. 68. Haw said a little prayer and hoped – as he had many times before – that maybe, at last, his friend was finally able to…
  69. 69. Move With The Cheese!!!Move With The Cheese!!!
  70. 70. Looking Back • Cheese hadn’t actually disappeared overnight • Smaller and smaller • Old and moldy • Should have anticipated change

  72. 72. Back In The Maze (Haw) • A little Cheese here and there • Confusing • Two steps forward, one step backward • Not easier – but better than cheeseless situation
  73. 73. Fear and Anxiety • What if there is no other Cheese in the maze? • What if I am unable to find Cheese? • Why didn’t I get up and move with the Cheese sooner?
  74. 74. Haw had learned something from Sniff and Scurry. They kept life simple. They didn’t overanalyze or overcomplicate things. When the situation changed and the Cheese had been moved, they moved with the Cheese.
  75. 75. Haw also realized that: •There is always new cheese out there whether you recognize it at the time or not. •You are rewarded with it when you go past your fear.
  76. 76. He also realized that: •Fear should be respected as it keeps you out of real danger. •Change has turned out to be a blessing in disguise as it led him to find better cheese.
  77. 77. Haw thought about going back to Cheese Station C to see Hem. Hem had to find his own way. No one else could do it for him. He should see the advantage of changing himself.
  78. 78. Haw thought about going back to Cheese Station C to see Hem. Hem had to find his own way. No one else could do it for him. He should see the advantage of changing himself.
  79. 79. Haw’s Wisdom • “Sometimes things change and they are never the same again. This looks like one of those times. • That’s life! Life moves on. • And so should we.”
  80. 80. New Cheese  As Haw enjoyed the New Cheese, he reflected on what he had learned  Held on to illusion of Cheese when it was no longer there  Learned to laugh at his own folly  You can let go and quickly move on
