Editor's Notes
One of the big misconceptions that are out there is that when you adopt an open source LMS, like Sakai, you need a large staff and have to dedicate resources to the development of the software, and although some choose this path, it isn’t the only option. rSmart was founded because we believe that higher education communinties, like the Sakai community, are the best makers of softare that is unique to higher education, because of this, iti s our mission to make Sakai accessible to EVERY institution, not just those that have the resources or culture to dedicate to the development of the software. So how do we help? First we package Sakai. We take the best of community innovation and we do a lot of the leg work that you would need to do if you were to install and configure Sakai on your own. We configure the tools, provided an enhanced UI, and then we test if like crazy so you get a reliable, feature rich Sakai CLE out of the box. Then we empower your staff by providing you access to the rSmart Support Network (RSN). Here you will have access to online video tutorials, user guide (that you can customize), online help files, admin guide, customization guide, hundreds of KB articles. Then we have a set of implementation services, such as configuration requirements session, branding, SIS integration, basic user authentication, functional/system admin training miigration assessment to make the transition to rSmart Sakai as smooth as possible We connect your platforms, we established many partnerships to integrate the CLE with other tools and provide more funcatiionality, we have experience integrating the CLE with CAS, Shibboleth, elluminate, turnitin, icodeon scorm player, pentaho (custom reporting), sferyx math editor, and most recently kaltura, bigbluebutton, and irubric Finally, we offer comprehensive support, which includes bi-monthly service pack updates, regular maintenance releases, unlimited multi-tier softawre support and trouble-shooting assistance, functional support and assistance, ongoing sakai development (our fixes and changes flow back into the community release as part of our support process), and dedicated support member to call for all issues that arise. Offer Tier 2 and Tier 3 support (we have partners who can provide tier 1 support
Not going to go over all of this, but this is just some of the achievements made by our Sakai team, as you can see, we just recently had Nate Angell, our client evagenlist elected to the Sakai Foundation Board (our president was one of the first to be elected)………………read a few bullets
