Good Morning Salem!
Our bus reached Salem too soon at 0330 morning. We walked past the town in the dark. It was
quite hot even early in the morning.

We hit the ghat road at dawn. It's 22 km uphill to Yercaud.
We soon learnt Salem- Yercaud Ghat road is popular among morning joggers.

We weren't alone.
There was no hairpin bend #1 or we missed it.

Now as high as Bangalore. Salem is at 278 metres , Yercaud at 1,515 metres .

Scary? (Almos t) Every road back home in Miz oram is like the ghat roads here. And without barriers .

At las t the finis h line. No ribbon to break though.
It’s about a Kilometer from here to the lake. On the way we saw cottages to the left. In particular
Star Holiday cottages look quite appealing.

Warning s ign at Yercaud lake
We made a short trip to the lake. Nothing spectacular if you have been to any other lake in India.
The usual tourists and pedal boats. Like the lake in Kodai, there are cycles for rent.
Would I come back for pleasure? Yes I would.

lolz z z z …. why didnt you tell me you were going there? There’s where I did
my schooling. Montfort, Yercaud. You brought back a lot of memories!
From 7th till 9th, I used to puke whenever we went down from Yercaud to
Salem because of the hairpin bends (motor rui), but from 10th standard
onwards, my body (and stomach) was used to all the turnings and motions.
