2. CHARACTERS:
The aunt:
Horrible story-teller… When
she‟s speaking to the children,
her conversations start with
“Don‟t” or “Why”.
“A Tall Man” (The Bachelor):
Just a passenger in that train, a
little bit funny and a good story-
teller (better than the aunt)
Three Children
“It was a hot, airless
afternoon. The train
was slow and the
next stop was nearly
an hour away.”
SPACE:
In a train, during a hot
afternoon.

3. AUNT‟S STORY:
“The children moved slowly towards
the aunt‟s seat. They already looked
bored. Clearly, the aunt was not a
famous story-teller.”
Horribly uninteresting story. By
listening to those stories, the
children were terribly bored and the
bachelor immediately realized that
she wasn‟t a good story-teller.
It talked about a little girl that was
so good, that one day, she fell into a
lake and her friends saved her
because she was very good and
everybody loved her very much.

4. BANCHELLOR‟S
STORY
CHARACTERS:
Bertha:
Not a pretty girl but very polite
and good. She earned three
medals: “Politeness”, “Never
Late” and “Best Child In The
World”
Grey wolf:
Appeared to eat a pig but found
Bertha and changed his mind. He
had a black tongue and angry
yellow eyes.
“‟Perhaps you would
like to tell them a
story,‟ said the aunt.
She gave him a cold
little smile.”
SPACE:
In the palace gardens.
TIME:
First Friday afternoon in May.

5. IN THE
PALACE
GARDENS:
There weren‟t any sheep
Lots of pigs running around
No flowers
Have lakes
Have birds
“(…) The king‟s
mother had once had
a dream. (…) A voice
said to her, „Your son
will be killed by a
sheep (…) or by a
clock…‟”

6. ON THAT MAY
DAY:
A grey wolf came by, and, with
fear, Bertha ran until she could
hide in a bush.
After chasing after her for a
while, the wolf became bored and
decided to catch a pig for his
meal.
Unfortunately for her, the medals
that she always hear clinked.
The wolf hear and he eat her.
“He ate everything
except her shoes, a
few small pieces of
her dress, and the
three medals for
goodness.”

7. “The children sat
still and were quiet
for ten minutes
while they listened
to the story. And the
didn‟t do that for
you.”
