On December 12, 2013, Impact Makers own Michael Ruiz presented an executive briefing to IT executives in the Richmond, VA area. The dialogue brought together a mix of private and public sector IT leaders to discuss the future of digital technology. The presentation looked at current trends and future technology to make the argument and motivate the thesis that organizations must embrace digital technology if they want to continue to thrive as the world moves from an information-age to a digital-age. The presentation provided a definition for digital that included mobile, social, cloud, and analytics converging to fundamentally changes how we use information and how we do business. The presentation covered emerging digital businesses such as boxed and various digital wallets; emerging digital technologies such as iBeacon, 3D printing, and autonomous vehicles. The presentation concluded with some first steps for organization starting down the digital road and next steps for organization already driving to the digital future.
