Cow is the only divine living being that has a Surya Ketu Nadi (vein
connected to sun) passing through her backbone. Therefore the cow's
milk, butter and ghee have golden hue. This is because Surya ketu Nadi,
on interaction with solar rays produces gold salts in her blood. These
salts are present in the cow's milk and cow's other bodily fluids which
miraculously cures many diseases.

Light of the Bhagavata Text 27
The animal fat required for the human body can be well derived from cow’s milk. Cow’s
milk is very important for human energy, and the economic development of society
depends on sufficient food grains, sufficient milk, and sufficient transportation and
distribution of these products. Lord Sri Krsna, by His personal example, taught us the
importance of cow protection, which is meant not only for the Indian climate but for all
human beings all over the universe.
Less intelligent people underestimate the value of cow’s milk. Cow’s milk is also called
gorasa, or the juice from the body of the cow. Milk is the most valuable form of gorasa,
and from milk we can prepare many important and valuable foodstuffs for the upkeep of
the human body. The killing of cows by human society is one of the grossest suicidal
policies, and those who are anxious to cultivate the human spirit must turn their attention
first toward the question of cow protection.

Prabhupada: ….So in this movement, our one program is to respect the cows. We chant this
mantra, namo brahmanya-devaya go-brahmana-hitayaca. The brahminical culture and the
cows… Why they have selected the cows? There are so many animals. Why cow protection is so
important in Krsna consciousness? Why Krsna personally Himself became a cowherd boy and was
taking the care of the cows and the calves? Oh, that is very essential.
So if you get milk products, milk, then you can prepare so many preparations full of vitamins,
which will nourish your brain.

Now, practically, in India they accept it, and it has been found by chemical examination
that the cow dung contains all antiseptic properties. That is a fact. One Dr. Goshal, he
analyzed in his laboratory, “Why this Vedic injunction is the stool of cow or cow dung is
pure?” So he analyzed, and he found it that the stool of cow, cow dung, is full of
antiseptic properties.

Today many AIDS patients are taking cow urine therapy. People who
were suffering with migraine and headache for the past 15 years have
recovered within six months of taking this therapy. Whether it is the
question of relieving tension or improving the memory power. In the
past few years the Cow Urine Treatment and Research Center, Indore
has treated one and half lakhs of people. Out of the total patients 85
to 90 percent were patients of constipation there is an old saying that if
the stomach is clean half of the diseases get cured automatically. The
patient taking cow urine therapy says that he is enjoying sound health
and passing bowels easily within one month of this therapy.

Cow urine has amazing germicidal power to kill varieties of germs.
All germ generated diseases are thus destroyed.
According to Ayurveda the cause of all diseases is the imbalance in
three faults (tri-dosas) i.e. mucous, bile and air. Cow urine balances the
tri-dosas, thus diseases are cured.
Cow urine corrects functioning of liver. So, liver makes healthy pure
blood. It gives disease resistance power to the body.
There are some micro nutrients in our body, which give life strength.
These micro nutrients are flushed out through urine. Therefore
gradually ageing steps in our body. Cow urine has all elements, which
compensate for deficiency of nutrients in our body, which are
required for healthy life. Thus Cow urine stops ageing process. So it is
called an elixir and also life giving.
Compiled by Rupesh Gauranga Das 30
Cow urine contains many minerals especially Copper, gold salts, etc. It
compensates for bodily mineral deficiency. Presence of gold salts
protects body against diseases.
Mental tension hurts nervous system. Cow urine is called medhya
and hradya, which means it, gives strength to brain and heart. Thus
cow urine protects heart and brain from damages caused by mental
tension and protects these organs from disorders and diseases.
Excessive use of any medicine leaves some residue in our body. This
residue causes diseases. Cow urine destroys the poisonous effects of
residues and makes body disease free.

Even in the houses of the cultivators, who were not very advanced in the modern ways of
civilization, People should know how to do this, for this is a part of Vedic civilization. the
ladies used to know how to chant mantras to give protection to children with the help of
cow dung and cow urine. This was a simple and practical way to give the greatest
protection from the greatest dangers.

The diseases caused by entrance of ghosts in body are cured by intake
of cow urine. The Master of ghosts is Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva holds
Ganga on his head. Ganga is in cow urine also. Thus by taking cow
urine, the ghosts get to see Ganga over their master’s head. So they are
calmed and become peaceful. So they do not trouble the body. Thus,
diseases caused by entrance of ghosts are also destroyed

cow dung plasters are commonly found in many Indian homes. Cow
dung, also hailed for its anti-bacterial properties, is the best natural
disinfectant. In any typical Indian village it not uncommon to find the
entire floor of the house coated with some fresh cow dung paste. Cow
dung mixed with lime is also used to coat the walls of cob houses.

Recent research findings from independent groups in University of
Bristol and Sage college in Troy, NY, show cow dung to be an excellent
mood enhancing agent. Cow dung contains a bacteria Mycobacterium
vaccae, which activates a group of neurons in the brain that produce
serotonin – a neurotransmitter that contributes to feelings of well
being and happiness. So the next time you’re feeling depressed try
walking into a cow barn and get a lungful of the fresh fragrance of cow
dung.

All Vedic knowledge is infallible, and Hindus accept Vedic knowledge to be complete and
infallible. For example, cow dung is the stool of an animal, and according to smriti, or Vedic
injunction, if one touches the stool of an animal he has to take a bath to purify himself. But
in the Vedic scriptures cow dung is considered to be a purifying agent. One might consider
this to be contradictory, but it is accepted because it is Vedic injunction, and indeed by
accepting this, one will not commit a mistake; subsequently it has been proved by modern
science that cow dung contains all antiseptic properties. So Vedic knowledge is complete
because it is above all doubts and mistakes, and Bhagavad-gitä is the essence of all Vedic
knowledge.

In ancient India, wells full of Ghee were especially for those who
suffered wounds. Ghee is known for the quality of Ropana- healing,
and its effectiveness
In Ayurveda, when a person has a chronic peptic ulcer or gastritis, Ghee
is used to heal that ulcer inside the intestinal tract. Ghee works
wondrously on bedsores for the elderly or debilitated.
It can be applied for broken bones and bruises. It is highly effective for
all sorts of skin rashes. It is also used on burns of both fire and
chemicals. in facilitating recovery from wounds.
Compiled by Rupesh Gauranga Das 44
One or two teaspoons of ghee first thing in the morning followed
immediately with hot water will promptly produce a bowel movement.
It will also warm the body quickly.
It is said that if a few drops of ghee are placed in the nostrils then
nosebleed can be checked. If this is done twice in a day, then headache
can be relieved.
Ghee is excellent for a gargle-gandush, to improve the health of the
teeth and gums.
Ghee is excellent for scrapes and both chemical and heat or fire
burns. Ghee can be used in the eyes for tiredness or fatigue.
For Body Massage-Abhyanga. Apply ghee all over the body, rubbing
into head, chest, limbs, joints and orifices. This will bypass the digestive
system and allow the qualities of Ghee to penetrate directly into the
deeper tissues.

Curd absorbs water from intestines (hence called as Grahi). By the virtue
of this property it is widely used to treat diarrhea and dysentery.
It mitigates vata dosha, increases kapha and pitta. Curd should not be
used in diseases where blood is vitiated by doshas.
It strengthens the body.
Consumption of curd accelerates digestion (agni), stimulates taste buds
and acts as an appetizer.
It is found beneficial in diseases of duodenum. The intestinal friendly
bacteria which are present in curd help to keep the colon healthy.
It reduces irritability of bladder and helps in emptying bladder easily.Compiled by Rupesh Gauranga Das 48

Butter milk does not cause heaviness when consumed. Hence it is known to
have the quality “laghu”. It gets digested quickly and easily. Butter milk is
usually sour in taste and acts as an astringent. Due to this property butter
milk helps in reducing pores caused by acne and pimples. It reduces hyper
motility of intestines during diarrhea and IBS. This property also helps to
shrink hemorrhoids. Aggravated kapha and vata are mitigated by
buttermilk. It is the best appetizer. According to ayurveda it reduces
bloating of stomach, eases symptoms of hemorrhoids, soothes intestines in
IBS and helps in indigestion. It also reduces effects of poison and is very
useful in treating anemia.
Butter milk detoxifies liver and body and cleanses the intestines, relieves
constipation and helps to replenish intestinal flora. It has less fat compared
to milk and is rich in calcium, potassium and vit B12.

Bhagavad-gita 2.46-47 — New York, March 28, 1966
As the king was entrusted to protect the life of the citizens, similarly, the vaisya
class, or the mercantile class, they were entrusted to protect the life of cow. Why
particularly cow is protected? Because milk is very essential food for the human
society, therefore cow protection is the duty of the human society. That is the
conception of Vedic literature.
Compiled by Rupesh Gauranga Das 54
Srimad-Bhagavatam 8.6.12 Purport
The cow should be protected, milk should be drawn from the cows, and this milk should be
prepared in various ways. One should take ample milk, and thus one can prolong one’s
life, develop his brain, execute devotional service, and ultimately attain the favor of the
Supreme Personality of Godhead. As it is essential to get food grains and water by digging
the earth, it is also essential to give protection to the cows and take nectarine milk from
their milk bags.
Compiled by Rupesh Gauranga Das 55
Letter to: Rupanuga — Vrindaban 7 December, 1975
Our cows are happy, therefore they give plenty of milk. Vedic civilization gives protection
to all the living creatures, especially the cows, because they render such valuable service
to the human society in the shape of milk, without which no one can become healthy
and strong. In your country the dog is protected, and the cow is killed. The dog is passing
stool and urine in the street, he is considered the best friend of man, and the cow is all
pure, stool, urine, and milk, but they are taken to the slaughter house and killed for
food. What kind of civilization is this. Therefore we have to preach against all this
nonsense.

  • 19. Light of the Bhagavata Text 27 The animal fat required for the human body can be well derived from cow’s milk. Cow’s milk is very important for human energy, and the economic development of society depends on sufficient food grains, sufficient milk, and sufficient transportation and distribution of these products. Lord Sri Krsna, by His personal example, taught us the importance of cow protection, which is meant not only for the Indian climate but for all human beings all over the universe. Less intelligent people underestimate the value of cow’s milk. Cow’s milk is also called gorasa, or the juice from the body of the cow. Milk is the most valuable form of gorasa, and from milk we can prepare many important and valuable foodstuffs for the upkeep of the human body. The killing of cows by human society is one of the grossest suicidal policies, and those who are anxious to cultivate the human spirit must turn their attention first toward the question of cow protection. Compiled by Rupesh Gauranga Das 19

We chant this mantra, namo brahmanya-devaya go-brahmana-hitayaca. The brahminical culture and the cows… Why they have selected the cows? There are so many animals. Why cow protection is so important in Krsna consciousness? Why Krsna personally Himself became a cowherd boy and was taking the care of the cows and the calves? Oh, that is very essential. So if you get milk products, milk, then you can prepare so many preparations full of vitamins, which will nourish your brain. Compiled by Rupesh Gauranga Das 21

For example, cow dung is the stool of an animal, and according to smriti, or Vedic injunction, if one touches the stool of an animal he has to take a bath to purify himself. But in the Vedic scriptures cow dung is considered to be a purifying agent. One might consider this to be contradictory, but it is accepted because it is Vedic injunction, and indeed by accepting this, one will not commit a mistake; subsequently it has been proved by modern science that cow dung contains all antiseptic properties. So Vedic knowledge is complete because it is above all doubts and mistakes, and Bhagavad-gitä is the essence of all Vedic knowledge. -Bhagavad-gitä Introduction Compiled by Rupesh Gauranga Das 42

  • 56. Letter to: Rupanuga — Vrindaban 7 December, 1975 Our cows are happy, therefore they give plenty of milk. Vedic civilization gives protection to all the living creatures, especially the cows, because they render such valuable service to the human society in the shape of milk, without which no one can become healthy and strong. In your country the dog is protected, and the cow is killed. The dog is passing stool and urine in the street, he is considered the best friend of man, and the cow is all pure, stool, urine, and milk, but they are taken to the slaughter house and killed for food. What kind of civilization is this. Therefore we have to preach against all this nonsense. Compiled by Rupesh Gauranga Das 56
