2. PATTERN AND
TEXTURE
A) There is something
satisfying about
repeated design and
every culture has
evolved different ways
of making patterns.
B) At the end of the last
century, pattern was very
popular. Victorians loved
pattern: Examples: The
House of Parliament and
the Palace of Westminster
Aztec design pattern
4. C ) In the past, the more
patterns there were in your
house, the richer you were.
D) Pattern is usually the first
thing we see when we
enter a room.
E) The eye is always seeking
out stimulation. Patterns
act as eye magnets for your
mind to explore or to get
interest from it.
F) Science proves that we
need a certain level of visual
stimulation at a very young
age.
5. G) Babies are always
interested in busy patterns
H) The brain needs
stimulation in order to
develop and a certain
degree of patterning on
the wall paper is a good
idea to develop the visual
part of the brain.
I) Do not use grids because
they will emphasize how low
the ceiling is and how short
the wall is
6. J) Wall paper has the ability
to cover dodgy
proportions. Getting the
scale and proportion
right means you no
longer see your low
ceiling or your short wall.
K) Three Types of Patterns
1) Florid-flowery, showy
2) Geometric
3) Naturalistic
L) Wallpapers camouflage
imperfection on the wall
