  4. 4. 3 most important sentences • Introduction:Mankind now possesses the scientific and technological power to effect change on a global scale. Our new-found ability to transmit messages from our own homes to computers around the world means that the physical size of our planet no longer constrains the communication of information. • Education:The School of Engineering offers master's level and doctoral courses and degrees in each department (see chart below). In addition to faculty members of the School of Engineering, those from adjunct research units, such as the Institute of Industrial Science at the University of Tokyo, participate in graduate level education. The purpose of graduate school education is to enable students to acquire more advanced knowledge of engineering and more refined research capabilities. The doctoral program is designed with the particular objective of fostering students' abilities so that they can take the lead in future research efforts. Because of the growing complexity of engineering, lectures in master's programs are becoming increasingly important. • Resreach:The University of Tokyo is the most leading university in Japan, and one of the world's foremost universities. It is ranked as one of the highest among universities of non-English-speaking nations, and is earning the evaluation of the top position in some fields of study. Engineering is just one of such high reputational fields.

In FY 2002 2 projects and in FY 2003 3 projects were adopted at the School of Engineering respectively. • Publicity:In order to showcase our fascinating Engineering Research to the general public, we publish several PR brochures including Ttime! (student-edited); manage the publicity space, Tlounge; plan various events; and reach out through press releases, blogging, and Twitter.
