2. To Begin…..
• First pick a piece of land where you want your
garden to be. Make sure to pay attention to
whether or not your garden will receive
afternoon or morning sun.
3. • Start edging out the size and shape of your
garden. I suggest using a garden edge to help
prevent weeds from growing in, and it will
also give the lawn mower a guide where not
to go.
4. • Remove all the sod making
sure to shaking as much soil
as possible. Add top soil if
needed, a small amount of
peat moss, add fertilizer and
measure according to garden
size, add water and mix well with a
pitch fork assuring soil and
ingredients are properly
distributed. Also, I recommend
you purchase perennials so they
come back each year.
5. • While your plants are still in their pots, place
them throughout your garden. Make sure to
keep the larger plants toward the back so they
don’t block the sun from the smaller plants.
• Once you have them in place begin to dig the
correct hole dimensions. If you’re unsure you
can refer to the plant directions on the pot.
6.
7. Finished product • Water your garden well after
your finished planting. Now
you can step back and
admire all your hard work.
• Gardening is good for the
soul. It is healthy to watch,
nurture it, and watch it grow.
