Do I want to learn more of how to live as a Christian, though I have studied the Bible for years and, perhaps, even attended Bible College or seminary? Do I insist on my own "rights" when under pressure to do so? Do I refuse to retaliate against those who do wrong to me and speak evil of me? Do I accept responsibilities of service regardless how small, seemingly insignificant, and unrewarded without complaint or inward resentment? Do I receive criticism well and love the people who give it?
19. For Salvation (Psalm 149:4):
Psalm 149:4 “The LORD takes pleasure in His
people; He will beautify the meek with
salvation.
Isaiah 61:1 “The Spirit of the Lord God is
upon Me, because the Lord hath anointed Me
to preach good tidings unto the meek . . .”
20. For Salvation (Psalm 149:4):
James 1:21 “. . . receive with meekness the
engrafted word, which is able to save your
souls.”
21. For Salvation (Psalm 149:4):
Zephaniah 2:3 “Seek the Lord,
all ye meek of the earth, who
have kept His ordinances; seek
righteousness, seek meekness;
it may be ye shall be hidden in
the day of the Lord’s anger.”
22. For Sanctification (James 1:21, 26; 3:13):
Colossians 3:12 “Put on, therefore, as the
elect of God, holy and beloved, tender
mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind,
meekness, longsuffering.”
Titus 3:2 “To speak evil
of no man, to be no
brawlers, but gentle,
showing all meekness
unto all men.”
34. Salvation in Christ: “Come unto Me”
come = invitation found more
than 500 times in the
Bible (Gen. 7:1; Rev.
22:17; Isa. 1:18)
labor = works of the flesh to the
point of exhaustion (Isa.
55:2)
rest = release from burdens
35. Study of Christ: “Learn of Me”
(Mt 11:28-30)
(ָהוָנֲ̀[ עanawah] = “suffering,” “oppressed,”
“afflicted”
Mt. 21:5 “Tell ye the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy King cometh
unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt, the foal of
an ass.”
Isa. 53:7 “He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He
opened not His mouth; He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter,
and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so He openeth not
His mouth.”
36. Study of Christ: “Learn of Me”
(Mt 11:28-30)
Mt. 20:17-28 ". . . it shall not be so among you,
but whosoever will be great among you, let
him be your minister, and whosoever will be
great among you, let him be your servant . . .
The Son of Man came . . . to minister, and to
give His life . . ."
37. For Service: In Instructing those who
Oppose (2 Tim. 2:24,25)
Jas. 3:13 “Who is a wise
man and endued with
knowledge among you?
Let him show out of a
good life his works with
meekness of wisdom.”
