What does the term inspiration mean? Check “yes” for all descriptions that are part of
the definition of inspiration and “no” for those that do not explain weather.

5 to make someone feel encouraged to be as good, successful etc as
possible
Using all descriptions you checks as “yes”, complete the definition of
inspiration.

1. Dana ran the marathon for 5 miles and she felt tired because it was a long race.
2. Noura has a talent of baking amazing sweets and it seems like a natural ability
for her.
3. Dalal was determined to get first place in her exam so she decided to study
a lot.
4. Nicole was a talented actress and Hollywood gave her Oscar for being a gifted
actress.
5. Parents try to inspire their children by making them feel they are able to do
something good.
6. Shaikh Sabah gave an inspirational speech for ‘Hala Febrayer’ on TV for
Kuwaitis.
* Use the past simple to talk about actions and situations that finished.
Example:
1- David and I trained for the marathon last year.
* We often say when the action happened.
Example:
In (year/months)
On (day)
At (time)
1- the first modern Olympics were in 1986.
2- I watched a great documentary on Sunday.
3- we arrived at tow o'clock.
* The past form of the verb be is was or were.
Example:
1- we were here last night.
2- I was not at the school this morning.
* With other verbs, we use just the main verb in affirmative past simple statement.
Regular past simple verbs add –ed to the infinitive.
* The past simple verb does not change. It is the same after I, you, he, she, it , we and
they.
Rules:
1. Note the spelling changes
2. Verbs ending in –e, add –d.
3. Verbs ending in consonant –y, change to –ied.
4. Verbs in vowel + consonant, double the consonant and add –ed
5. Many common verbs in the past simple are irregular .
* Use did to form past simple negative and questions.
Example:
1. Did she win the London Marathon?
* Past simple short answers use did.
Yes I did./ No I didn’t.
Time Expressions
* We often use time expressions with the past simple.
Ago, last night, week, months, year, yesterday
Example:
1. We moved to this house two years ago.
Put the verbs into the past simple:
1. Last year I (go) _______________to England on holiday.
2. It (be) _______________fantastic.
3. I (visit) _______lots of interesting places.
4. I (be) __________with two friends of mine. In the
mornings we (walk)___________ in the streets of London.
5. In the evenings we (go) ____________to restaurant.
6. The weather (be) ____________strangely fine.
7. It (be/not / rain) ____________a lot.
8. But we (see) _________some beautiful rainbows.
9. Where (spend / you) __________your last holiday?

  • 6. * Use the past simple to talk about actions and situations that finished. Example: 1- David and I trained for the marathon last year. * We often say when the action happened. Example: In (year/months) On (day) At (time) 1- the first modern Olympics were in 1986. 2- I watched a great documentary on Sunday. 3- we arrived at tow o'clock. * The past form of the verb be is was or were. Example: 1- we were here last night. 2- I was not at the school this morning. * With other verbs, we use just the main verb in affirmative past simple statement. Regular past simple verbs add –ed to the infinitive. * The past simple verb does not change. It is the same after I, you, he, she, it , we and they.
  • 7. Rules: 1. Note the spelling changes 2. Verbs ending in –e, add –d. 3. Verbs ending in consonant –y, change to –ied. 4. Verbs in vowel + consonant, double the consonant and add –ed 5. Many common verbs in the past simple are irregular . * Use did to form past simple negative and questions. Example: 1. Did she win the London Marathon? * Past simple short answers use did. Yes I did./ No I didn’t. Time Expressions * We often use time expressions with the past simple. Ago, last night, week, months, year, yesterday Example: 1. We moved to this house two years ago.
