How Can You Create Effective Facebook Ads
Facebook Ads are perhaps the most powerful way to reach
relevant customers. With so many different type of people
from all kind of communities socializing there, you, as a
marketer, know that you too will find your share of interest.
On the other hand, with such an immense population on
Facebook, the competition among marketers has gone up like
never before. You will be amazed to know that more than 90%
of marketers are on Facebook to advertise their brands. That’s
a huge percentage, right?
How do you stand out in that crowd, with your advertisement
looking distinct and important? When the concept of
advertising on Facebook was new, it had a lot of organic
reach, i.e, it was quite easy to reach out to the exact segment
of customers you desired, but today with so many tech savvy
marketers on board, the path doesn’t look easy.
Advertising on Facebook is no more a cakewalk. You need to
be very sure about your product positioning, the audience
you target and the kind of ad format you go for. Apart from
these, there might be other factors too which might make or
spoil your ‘Ad- venture’ completely.
You need to focus on making ads that will allure the
customers and convince them well to make a purchase. The
images, graphics, videos that you use to create the ad, play a
vital role in this. All in all there are too many things that
require your attention.
Let’s get that sorted and define the key pointers to make
Facebook ads effective and awesome :
Choose audience wisely
Marketers should take this point quite seriously. You may say
that this is the root of the entire ad campaign and where you
must start wisely. Know your target audience.
You may want to choose between a broad audience profile or
a selected narrow one that suits your brand. For example
when looking to promote a brand, you may reach out to a
larger audience but while looking to increase traffic on your
website, you may want to target like minded people and
communities.
On Facebook, it becomes even easier to know the profile of
prospective customers you may have. You can use the filters
on the site to identify and analyse your potential consumers.
The better you define your audience , the more is the
relevance of your ad to the recipients.
2. Define an end goal for your ad campaign
Be very clear in your mind what do you want your ad to do.
If you want to simply to create an awareness about your
brand or if you want to get leads out of it, the objective or goal
of your campaign will give you key to making the design
decisions for your ads.
Facebook gives you the option of detailing ads according to a
specific goal or objective. In the FB Ads Manager, you can find
multiple options for the objectives:
 Reach
 Brand Awareness
 Engagement
 Page Likes
 Traffic etc.
Selecting an objective will make FB recommend an ad style
most suited to it in terms of the design. You can look at the
most suitable objective for your campaign.
3. Create audience specific ads
This is probably the other half of ‘Targeting Audience’ point.
Different people, different choices. So, why the same ad for
every single person? Make sure that you develop customer
specific ads.
If you are a shoe retailer, you might have shoes for males,
females, teenagers and kids. You create an ad that promotes
all the line of products. Have you thought that why will a
teenager be interested for kids’ section of shoes or why will a
women be interested in the male section of shoes and so on?
Won’t work out that way.
Facebook gives you that flexibility where you can effortlessly
find out the number of males, females or teenagers that are
there and might want to buy your product. So, take up that
advantage and offer exactly what it requires through ads.
4. Make a visual impact
The graphic images, pictures and videos that you use must
match the content of the advertisement. They must be relevant
to what you are presenting or saying through your ad.
Many a times the images or videos used do not coordinate
well with the content of the ad. In such cases, the entire ad
looks scattered and badly edited ruining the purpose and
intent.
To have an overall stupendous impact, the images and videos
must sync nicely with the story of the advertisement. Be
relevant and cohesive in your visual expression.
5. Keep it Short and Simple
Remember that people on Facebook come with a very casual
and relaxed attitude. Your ads too must be with the same tone
and style.
People might just ignore your ad if its too complex to
understand or too lengthy to watch. It must within few
seconds tell everything about the product and what
uniqueness it has. Customers should immediately be able to
make out why they should buy that particular product and
what uses it has.
6. Use Simple Language
Whatever language you use for ads, make sure it is free from
errors and easy to consume. Usage of too many vocabulary or
ornamental words might harm your ad instead of doing good
to it.
Customers like effortless presentation of content which can
explain things without much complications. So, tell them
about the product the way they talk among themselves. Let
the ad talk to them like a friend. Only, then will they watch
the ad till the end which will in turn fulfill your purpose.
Do not shy away from talking about the cost
People are smart and candid these days. If they want to buy a
product, they will want to know about the price right away.
Provide them with that openness. Your ads must showcase
the cost of the product or service each and every time but
subtly. It should not be too flashy, yet should not be vague
and unclear. This will make your ad look smarter, detailed
and precise.
8. Test and upgrade
After going through these constructive stages, and giving in
so much of hard work, what if, your ad fails. Sounds
dreadful? Don’t let that happen.
Facebook charges few bucks paying which you can run your
ads just for testing them. This will help you to know at least to
some extent that how well your ads would do.
You can always make two to three copies of the ad with the
same images and run them with tiny changes made here and
there. The number of likes and comments you receive on these
ads will tell you how will the ad work practically.
Conclusion
Facebook offers the creativity and flexibility—but leveraging
and getting the maximum out of it is always up to you. At the
end of the day, your research, creativity, farsightedness and
the way you copyright your ads will fetch you the brownie
points!
