fertility, mortality, migration,etc.

programme which providesfor a study of
population situation of the family, the
community, nation and world, withthe
purpose of developing in the students’
rational and responsible attitudes and
behavior towardsthat situation.”

• Toenable the students to understand that family sizeis
controlled.
• Development of ahigher quality of life in the nation.
• That asmall family sizecancontribute materially to
the quality of living for the individual family.
• Toenable the students to appreciate the fact thatfor
preserving the health and welfare of the members of
the family and to ensure good prospects for the
younger generation, the Indian families of today and
tomorrow should be small andcompact.
• Togive accurate information to the students aboutthe
effect of changesin family sizeand in national
population on the individual.
• Community forums and voluntaryorganizations should
discussthe
drawbacks of large families and the merits of small families.
• Children in the elementary stage should also be taught
through their courses of study.
• Boys and girls at the secondary stage should be given the
knowledge in a
scientific way about the reproductive biology system and the
sex-hygiene.
• Parent-teacher associations can also take the responsibility
ofeducating the families.
• Schools should assume the responsibility of educating the

It hasbeen developed in collaboration
with the United Nations Fundsfor
Population Activities (UNFPA)and with
the active involvement of the Ministry
of Health and FamilyWelfare
 Expansionof population Education is theneed
of the day.According to 2010 censustotal
population of India is 1.25 billion and that can
be checked through this programme and The
successof this programme depends on the
teachers. Hence, he must be properlytrained.
Prof Nurul Hassan,the former Education Minister
and Dr.Chandra Sekhar,former Prime Minister also
emphasized the role of teacher in this programme
