Congrats Scott!!
  3. 3. A big thank you to Sue for donating fabric to the pillowcase cause! She donated a box of fabric that was plenty enough to make lots of pillowcases. Sharon has been busy making pillowcases for the girls at Brookwood for the club’s annual Christmas donation. $300 Thanks to Ric Carvalis for the donation to OI Dominican Republic Foundation! Kathy gave us a presentation of her trip to the Dominican. Of all the things that she told us, the one thing that made an impression on me was that she arrived in the Dominican with a full suitcase and left with an empty suitcase. She gave all her clothing to the poor women of the Dominican. That was such a wonderful thing to do. A small tidbit of Dominican history…the island of Hispaniola (the Dominican Republic forms the eastern two-thirds and Haiti forms the rest) was originally occupied by the Tainos, an Arawak-speaking people. The Tainos welcomed Columbus in his first voyage in 1492, but subsequent colonizers were brutal, reducing the Taino population from about 1 million It’ It’s My to about 500 in 50 years. 6. 6. The Optimist Creed Promise Yourself - To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet. To make all your friends feel that there is something in them. To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. To think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best. To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own. To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile. To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others. To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
